I see there are a few Crowded House fans here. They were on a show here last week called "Hey Hey It's Saturday". They did some live performances from London. They look and sound terrific. Another great Aussie band!
I have to say, I'm not a fan of these Beck covers. They're just, how can I put it, not good! |

That's one way to put it Giaan, lol! I got a little afraid of listening to them after awhile. Holy Mystifying Mystify. How can you ruin Mystify? Awesome song, and you're murdering it. LOL! Beck step away from the INXS. Seriously.
The Vanvouver Province has Song downloads every Tuesday and this week Sarah McLaughlin and Ash Koley have songs available. http://www.theprovince.co...sic/downloads/index.html |

PhanTim wrote: In the INXS Platinum special, the guys talked about how shocked they were at some of the original auditions for Rockstar INXS when they went to open days. I think if Beck ever had applied for that show, he would have made Tim and co run screaming from the building. |

For those who are terrified of the Beck covers, here's how it should be done.
When Train performed in Sydney a few days ago, they did a cover of Devil Inside with Andrew up on stage. Pat's voice sounds awesome on this song. And for a fan recorded video, it's quite good! I don't seem to be able to embed the video here, so I'll just post the link. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kcdt9qmjZcs

Today is a day for celebration. "Celebration of what?" you ask.

Hi Giaan. Thanks for the Train video link. I'll post the video below, but for future reference, here's how video posting works on this site. First, copy the embed code of the video you want from the original site (for You Tube, I think it's just below/right of the video). Next, open your comment box here and click the icon you see two to the left of the Spellcheck icon. It's the "Insert Flash" icon. You'll see a new tool bar open across the top where you can search for videos, but what you want is over on the right side of the tool bar. It's the blue "Add From HTML" button. Once you click it, a small box opens where you can paste the embed code you copied, then click the "Insert" button at the bottom of the box and you're done! Hope that helps.

Link for a sampler of music from Dinealone Music. (Some really good stuff -- City and Colour, the Arkells.. Hot Hot Heat.. Tokyo Police Club) And it's also an excellent time waster because you get to design your own cover art for itunes. It's amazing how many variations people have come up with from the items they provided. Very cool.
http://www.dinealonesampler.com/ and Honeychild is letting people download their new album Nearer the Earth for free - I'd never heard of them until the other day but I really like the album. http://www.facebook.com/p...=app_373181362111&ref=ts |

I got a nice little musical present today.
I've been feeling insulated, lonely, in pain and frustrated of late. It poured rain all afternoon, and I had really wanted to go down to the fence to listen outside Bluesfest to hear Hole tonight. 10 minutes before Hole was supposed to hit the stage, I decided, fuck it, rain or no rain I needed some Grrrrl Power. So, umbrella in hand, I hobbled down to the concert site. The thunderstorm warning delayed the start of the show, so I got down just in time for the rain to stop and the intro music to come on - Ravel's Bolero. Cheeky choice Courtney. Another cheeky choice, she opened with The Stone's 'Sympathy for the Devil.' I spent the first part of the gig outside with a clear view of the stage and the jumbo screen. Then, a woman who was leaving the site walked past and asked if I wanted her ticket to go in. I thanked her, and hobbled off to the entrance in time to come in close to the stage for 'Asking For It' Touring is obviously good for Love, because she looked great and sounded better than I've heard for a while. Kind of a cross between the old Courtney and the raspiness of Marianne Faithful. It was her birthday, and as the crowd sang happy birthday, the crew brought out a cake with read "Happy Birthday Patron" which she say was because they know exactly who the boss is. They did a few new numbers I recognized including 'Skinny Little Bitch' and 'Pacific Coast Highway' the later which sounded much better than when she performed it on Leno. After hearing some of her melt downs of late, I was pleasantly surprised that she was so professional. Good on ya girl. She did one really great blues number, I wish I knew the name of, because it rocked. Even though my feet hurt, I stuck it out for the final act, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts. I missed the first song or so because Hole was still playing on the other stage . A hearty 'Cherry Bomb' came only a few numbers in. 'I Love Rock and Roll' of course got the crowd singing along, but the highlight for me was 'I Hate Myself For Loving You'
BSC and loving it.

Alan Cross and Aux Tv has an interview with Courtney being posted this week. Following Alan's wait to talk to her on twitter was amusing - she was so late. Courtney's interesting, you gotta give her that. And Joan Jett.. was one of my very first albums. I got two of them one year on my birthday.

Holy Crap, Ember, that was fantastic!! Thanks for sharing that. Probably one of the best covers of that song I've heard. And, Johnny Marr! Thanks, again. That really was great!

PhanTim wrote: I knew you'd like it PT. It was a fabulous cover! They should really record that. I'd pay to get a copy of it. I guess there really is almost nothing that Neil Finn can't sing. And Marr's guitar adds so much to the mix. I bet if you got Finn oiled enough, you'd get some awesome glam rock/heavy rock songs flowing from his strings. Some fans in Manchester though Marr was Noel Gallagher. It's a shame them kids don't know there own musical heritage. Not that Noel isn't awesome too, I love him, but how can you not know who Johhny Marr is? Seriously.
BSC and loving it.
