11 January LA Off to the gym. Band Meeting. Layne and I out to dinner to a great Mexican called "Frida's" in Bev. Hills. Hotel & bed. 12 January LA - 'Afterglow' Video Shoot Day 1. Off to gym. Quick run to the Westfield to get brunch takeaway. Phoners for GB, JF & I. JD shooting his video scenes w Estella Warren today and tonight. Band Meeting @ 3:30pm with Keith, Martha + Todd (Tour Manager) to discuss outline for this years touring. Layne and I out to dinner w Dan-o-mite to "Wiltshire...." V. Groovy and great food... Then to a bar called "Viceroy" for one drink then Hotel to bed... 13 January LA - Verizon Backyard Gig. Up and emails etc... Get ready and off to Westfield for brunch. JD + GB off to do some press/rest depart @ 1  m for Centre Staging. Check the gear, etc, and then try out a couple of backing singers. Picked Melodye Perry. View the Scott Duncan visuals for the live show. Sound check, etc. Stage looks great. Dinner then Meet & Greet the Verizon winner + his friends. Get ready and off we go. First Full Set Performance. All played pretty well... 14 January LA - "G'Day LA Gala Ball." Layne and I to the gym. Off to Westfield for brunch and supplies shopping. 3pm off to sound check @ the Palladium and rehearse with Melodye as sing with us tonight... stay there. All but AF did the Red Carpet and I walked with Layne. Off to our table and Layne sit at the Tourism Oz table. Tonight's honourees were Hugh Jackman, Olivia Newton John and us... We performed 'Mystify', 'Pretty Vegas', 'Never Tear Us Apart' and 'need You Tonight'. Richard Wilkins hosting & presented us our award. AF did the speech... Back to the Hotel bar for a bit. 15 January LA - House of Blues. Sleep in lazy day. Layne off to the Swans v Kangaroos footy match. 6:30pm off to the H.O.B. for sound check and the gig. Lots of "guests" to the gig tonight... Dave Goffin, the Murkovichs, Estella Warren, Danomite, the Aboriginal Dance Group from the Gala Ball, Benjamin + Megan, Kent + Kath & Minnie Driver, Keith + Maria, Oakley crew, Scott Duncan, Janine Kerr + Kat & everyone from last night... All had a great show... Lots of meet & greet drinks backstage afterwards... Eventually to the Hotel and Layne and I straight to bed 16 January LA - 'Afterglow' Day 2 Video Shoot. Up round 11:30am and off to the gym. Walk to Westfield for lunch. Depart the Hotel @ 3 m for Day 2 of the video shoot w Scott Duncan, Downtown LA. The old team back together - Lynne, Trish, Ramsell & Amber there doing us... Pretty brisk night and lots of walking & standing in the cold... Finish @ 1:30am... Hotel, shower, pack & bed by 3:am... 17 January LA/Vancouver. Production Rehearsal. Up @ 10:am and checkout. JD, Martha & Kat on an early flight as JD doing the X- Box "Halo 2" Promo thingy. Layne go with us as flying back to Oz today. Wauuugh... Hook up @ LAX w Wendy Sue Hall (2nd B.V. singer) + Melodye. Arrive Vancouver and off to Production rehearsals with the new B.V.'s... Ran through half a dozen songs but need to do a vox rehearsal tomorrow first up. Finish round 10 m and back to the Hotel. 18 January Vancouver - Queen Elizabeth Theatre. Start the "Switched On" Tour. 11:am GB, Wendy, Melodye and I vocal rehearsals. GB + I out to lunch. Roy + Dave Goffin. showed up and joined... 2:30pm sound check & full band run through of the B.V. vocal songs. Mark Burnett posse down to sound check. 4:30pm press for all in 2 groups. Some back to the Hotel Meet with Martha, Paul + Todd to discuss acoustic radio shows + meet & greet logistics. Meet & greet for all. Gig went pretty well for a first show... Back to the Hotel bar but closed... Some out to a pub called the Kensington... 19 January Seattle - Paramount Theatre. "Marty Casey & the Lovehammers" start with us tonight. Doing the whole First Leg of the Tour. So, 1st day on the buses... JD, TF, Todd, Wendy + Melodye on one bus... Tony (Security) and the rest on the other bus. Food stop along the way. Phoner interviews as well on thew bus. Arrive at the Sorrento Hotel and half hour stopover then off to sound check... AF has a chest infection... probably from the video shoot the other night. "KLSY" Contest winners watch the sound check. Then M & G the winners. TF + I do video IDs for retail stores whist JD + GB over to a Listening Party at "KPLZ." All but JF & I back to the Hotel... Meet & Greet. Showtime... Great audience... My in-ear monitors play up??? Dave Goffin @ the gig. All back to the Hotel bar... 20 January Lincoln City - Chinook Winds Casino. Up and a 6-hour drive. Phoner Interviews on the bus. Stop to buy DVDs. Drive straight to the gig. Quick sound check and rehearse the B.V. girls in 'What You Need'. Gig great and audience fantastic. Change and on the bus with dinner from the restaurant to drive to Portland and the Kimpton 5th Avenue Suites Hotel. Arrive @ 1:30am... Bed... 21 January Portland/Lincoln City/Portland - Chinook Winds Casino. Up @ 10:am and off to the gym for me... Out for a bite & supply shop. Relaxo arvo then bags @ 5 m... but, left mine in the hallway for pick up and one of my bags got taken from outside the room and stuff stolen... Alert security, etc... Got it back with some of the contents still remaining... Off to the Casino again. Acoustic team AF, JD & I rehearse on the way... No sound check today and arrive in time for M&G... Pretty good show and great audience... On the bus and 2 hours back to Portland then the busses leave for San Francisco. 22 January San Francisco - Travel/Day Off. Checkout and receive some money to buy the missing phone chargers from the Hotel bag thief yesterday. The Hotel also recovered some other items. Lunchtime flight to San Fran and check in to the Intercontinental Hotel. Bus + bags arrive @ 8:30pm. Out for a walk to dinner and work it off on the steep climb home... Watch the Australian Open. 23 January San Francisco - Paramount Theatre (Oakland). Off to the gym. 11:30am the Acoustic Team off to KFOG. Pre-record set up in a studio and around 40 people. Did 'Need You Tonight', 'Never Tear Us Apart', 'Mystify' and 'Pretty Vegas'. Q&A thing and told lots of stories about the TV show, etc. Pretty funny, fun & casual. Back to the Hotel, pack and checkout. GB & TF Phoners. So, JD + AF have the bronchial/chest lurgy full blown and all but JF fighting it off..., (crew as well...). Aaahhhh, it's just like kindergarten. Everything gets passed on. Brief sound check, dinner, M&G, wait, and then the gig. Excellent show... On the buses and overnight to LA... 24th January LA - Day Off. Arrive about 7:am and off to bed for more sleep. Relaxo Day. 25th January Pala Events Centre. All meet w Lynne at different times to go through new clothes. On the bus @ 2 m along w Keith + Martha to discuss future tour legs. Joe Puhy joining us for 3 days to do shots for the tour book, etc. Longer drive than thought but still got a sound check. Huge M&G tonight. JD still has voice problem arising from the bronchial lurgy... Those with it are having a hard time getting rid of it. Viewed 2 different edits of the 'Afterglow' video... OK but storyline not clear enough... so a re-edit. Great show tonight. Drive back to LA... 26th January Highland - San Manuel Casino. Lynne wake me up to go thru clothes + look at new glasses. Off to the gym then out to lunch. On the bus @ 2:30pm along w Keith, Martha + Andy McManus & Patrick (Oz Promoters) to discuss Oz Tour. Joe photo Puhy travelling with us too... Quick sound check as another longer than expected trip... Did some more photos backstage as well as some single shots... Audience great... On the bus and back to the Hotel and bed. 27 January LA - Gibson Amphitheatre. Pack bags to go by bus as we lose them after today and get new ones in St. Louis in 4 days time. Midday off to the venue for a photo shoot for People Mag. Feature at the venue. Sound check, dinner, etc. Hard Rock Q&A M&G for TF, JF + JD. Several M & Gs. Everyone there tonight... Awesome show and great crowd and reaction... Dressing room packed to the rafters after... Lots of fun then eventually back to the Hotel bar for some till closing... 28 January Las Vegas - Mandalay Bay Events Centre. Out of the Hotel and off to the airport @ 10:amish. No buses 'til St. Louis... Staying at the Mandalay Bay Hotel. Half hour rest then acoustic team off to KMXA Infinity Lounge to do the usual Q&A, perform and photo M&G... Lots of people and JD still not better. Did 'Mystify', 'By My Side', 'Need You Tonight' & a verse & chorus of 'Pretty Vegas'... Band to sound check straight after/JD rest... Back to the rooms till 8 m JD still not well and his voice hasn't had time to get better but we pulled through. Amazing audience. All but JD + GB off to Kerry Simon's restaurant "Simon" for food and party. 29 January Denver Travel/Day Off. Evening flights to Denver. Arrive at the Hotel Teatro in Denver @ 9:30pm. 30 January Denver - Convention Centre. Off to the gym. Phoners for some. Acoustic Team off @ 2:15pm to the Mix-100 gig for a perform + chat, photo & sign... Did 'By My Side' + 'Pretty Vegas'... I went to the venue early to work on some guitar sounds + check saxes, etc. Back to the Hotel for a few hours. 7:30pm depart for the M&G & play blackjack w comp winners. Back to the Hotel after the show and most to bed... 31 January (St.Louis) Chicago - Travel. **Have decided to cancel the next 3 Shows so JD's voice and all that are ill can get better** Hoping to put them at the end of this leg of the Tour. Out for a big walk for lunch & supplies. 3pm all depart for airport to fly to Chicago w Spriggsy + Martha. (Tony, JF + GB to LA). Todd C. to NYC to visit his ill mother. Check in to the Ritz Carlton round 9:30pm. 1 February Chicago Day Off. (Meant to perform in St. Charles) Get up late then join TF & AF in Martha's room to watch the 3rd video edit of 'Afterglow'. Off to gym. IChat w Layne. Eventually late lunch @ "Foodlife" in the adjoining "Watertower Place" Mall. Awesome Mexican food... Quiet arvo emailing/net, etc. Down to "Foodlife" for some soup dinner... Telebed... 2 February Chicago Day Off. (Meant to Perform in Kansas City) Lazy old day and loving it... Phoners for TF, AF and I. Lunch down at "Foodlife" with AF. TF, Melodye and I out to the 6pm session of "King Kong." Walked the 6 blocks home and getting pretty cold in the "Windy City..." Telebed... 3 February Chicago Day Off. (Meant to perform in Minneapolis). Italian phoners for me then off to gym (AF + TF phoners too). Deal with some washing then down to the Mall for Mex. lunch and a shop... bought socks and a Godiva chocolate bar... GB + JF arrive in the evening back from LA. Todd fly in too... 4 February Chicago Theatre. Full Acoustic Team (w/ JF) up and off @ 10:am to the "Bamboo Room" for WTMX perform and Q&A, etc... Driver got lost so got there half-hour late for sound check... Did 'Don't Change', 'Need You Tonight', 'By My Side' + 'Pretty Vegas' Went pretty good... About 300 really loud people... So, about 5 hours later (from when we left) got Back to the Hotel. Run out for a quick late lunch @ "Food line." Off to the gig for sound check then back to the Hotel for a few hours. JD + I hang out with the Sure people, do some photos and quotes then join the rest to the regular M&G. Great show. Scott Duncan + his wife at the show as well as Martha. Back to the Hotel bar... 5 February Windsor (Toronto) - Cleary International Centre. Early start with an 9am departure to Midway Airport to Private Plane to Windsor in a 10 seater Challenger Jet for the Canadia "Global TV" Superbowl Party... Sound check then the 5 song set. 'Afterglow' + 'Pretty Vegas' went out live on TV. Police Escort again back to the airport, back on the Challenger and fly to Toronto. Quiet night for all. Watch the U.S. Superbowl... 6 February Toronto - Massey Hall 1. Off to gym. 1pm Band Meeting w Keith Naisbitt. JD shoot his Canadian Gillette Commercial today. Sound check (no TF as at Niagara Falls w Buff). Went through a myriad of Tenor Sax reeds to find some magical ones. Osteopath + Chiropractor at the gig today for a bunch of back crackin'. M&G before and the Diet Pepsi people present (next leg Canadia Sponsors). On with the show and a pretty good one too. All the Canadia Sony/BMG people there tonight and got presented Platinum's for Switch in Canadia. Millions of JD friends and relo's at the gig as well. Some to the bar/KP to bed... IChat w LB. Switch released in Italy this week. 7 February Toronto - Massey Hall 2. Off to gym then brunch over the road @ Cora's. 1:30pm all off to the Hard Rock for a big Press Conference to announce the Canadia 2nd leg of the Tour with Diet Pepsi... Also did shots with the Platinum Awards and a bunch of interviews. After I went for a big walk and to Eaton Mall, then to the gig. No sound check today. M&G. Great show and possibly better than last night's... Everyone to the Soho Bar till late... Fun night. 8 February Detroit - Masonic Temple. New busses have arrived so checkout and off to Detroit and to the Ritz Carlton. No sound check. JD to a Casino to play Slots as a contest prize & I hitched a ride to the gig early. M&G. Great show and crowd. Pack bags for collection as bu ses leaving tonight. Some to the bar... 9 February Boston - Travel/Day off. Off to the airport and fly to Boston... Pretty damn cold. Check in to the Ritz Carlton Hotel. Out for some supplies. The whole band (except JD) + Todd & Tony out to dinner to "Legal Seafood." Awesome meal and AF's shout. 10 February Boston - Wang Centre. Off to the gym. Brunch in the Hotel cafe along with JD. Acoustic Team off to "First Act" guitar centre to do the WBMX performance. Over 100 people... Did 'Need You Tonight', 'By My Side' and 'Pretty Vegas'. JF, TF & GB phoners. KP down to the show early w Keith + Tony. Leigh Epic Radio hanging with us for a few days... Pretty good show. Tougher audience than usual... All on the buses including Martha, Keith + Leigh and 5 hour drive to NYC. Check in to the hotel, which will be home for the next week... 11th February (NYC) Atlantic City - Borgata Event Centre. Up late... Out for lunch. Big snowstorm coming today... On the busses @ 4 m and head into the blizzard. Not too bad. No sound check. M&G + a radio interview for TF + I. Nathan arrived last night for a week. Keith still here as well. Pretty good show according too all & sundry. On the buses and 3 hour drive back to NYC. Made it through the snow okay... 12 February NYC - Avery Fisher Hall. CANCELLED DUE TO SNOW Off to the gym Out to Wholefoods for supplies... Almost 2 foot of snow since yesterday... Quiet, relaxo, day. Caught up on INXS.com web diary till mid January. (yippee.). 13 February NYC Letterman Show + Avery Fisher Hall. Yoga tape. Cooked steak & salad lunch in the room. 2pm off to Letterman to do 'Afterglow'. Went well. Still the coldest TV Show in the Universe. TF + I to the gig/rest back to the Hotel. Some to radio. Big Sony/Epic M&G... Bruchay (Bruce Patron our old TM), Kendall, Bozza's, "the Veronica's" (didn't come back & say hi though), Guy Chambers, and many more at the gig. Really great show... Some to a bar in the Time Warner building after. 14 February (NYC) Day Off. Valentines Day. Gym for me. Cooked steak & salad lunch in the room again, this time set off the smoke alarm. JD do stuff at VH-1 today then out to dinner with winners of a V.D. Contest. Out to dinner w Bruchay to Indian across the street. Valentines Day. I wonder what they thought. Early night as early start... 15 February (NYC) Regis & Kelly Show. Reading (PA) - Sovereign P.A.C. Depart @ 7:30am for the TV show. Did 'Pretty Vegas' + tag into ads then did 'need You Tonight' at he end of the show into the credits. Bits of chats as well and went well... they want us back sometime... Back to the Hotel. Out for a walk then lunch @ "???" w Kendall, Tim + Kingsley. Hotel to get ready. Band Meeting w Martha + Nathan re Website. On the buses and off to the gig in Reading along with Nathan & Kerry. Had a chiro come to the venue to check me out as still getting headaches (since Toronto). Show a gooden... Great crowd reaction as usual. Back on the buses and 3 hour drive back to NYC... 16 February (NYC) Uncasville (CT) - Mohegan Sun. Tai chi in the morn. JD some phoners then a bunch of Asian print interviews w JF. Rest of us a variety of phoners. I instigated an early bus (AF + GB) to check gear at the gig but traffic so crap, got there in time to do the huge M&G... Pretty good show & about 8000 people. Then had to go do an hour long signing in the Casino lobby... Insane... On the buses and drive back to NYC for the last night... 17 February Philadelphia (PA) - Tower Theatre. JF finally got the lurgy (that started doing the rounds when we did the 'Afterglow' video shoot) & really sick today. Me, off to the gym. TF phoner. Pack up and check out and off to Phily along w Buff + Martha. Nathan back to the UK today. Tony and I down to the gig early, but bad traffic, so too late to work on sounds... M&G... TF + JD CBS TV interview. We rocked. 18 February Washington (DC) - Warner Theatre. Off to DC with a stop at WSTW for the whole band (except JF as really sick now) interview + M&G, etc. In the middle of nowhere it seemed. Fun interview. Leigh "radio" join us on the bus and back on the road to the Mandarin Oriental. As usual, I went to the gig early for the 3rd attempt at, and finally, dial up sounds for 'Hot Girls'. JF not sure how he was going to do tonight as so sick but the gig went ahead... left out 'Kick'... What a trooper. Great show and audience. I pulled a girl on stage for 'Don't Change' but then about 50 or so followed. Mayhem but fun. I'm gonna get in trouble.!!!! Some back to the Hotel Bar till late. 19 February Washington (DC) Day Off. I had a bed day. Buffy flew home today. 20 February Norfolk (VA) - Chrysler Hall. Off to gym. Brek w Tony in the restaurant. Checkout and off round midday... Check in to the Renaissance "Dog Box" Hotel. Off to "Sound check Party" + M&G at the gig for about 40 winners... All but JD & I back to the Hotel. Contest winners M&G + another one. JF still sick but a bit better... Pretty good show. 21 February Charlotte (NC) - Ovens Auditorium (Atlanta). Up and off @ 10:am as Acoustic today. 6-7 hour drive... Check in to the Hyatt. The Acoustic Team off to WLNK to perform 'By My Side' + 'Pretty Vegas' Q&A + M&G about 40 people... Went pretty well except I had no monitors for the 1st half of 'By My Side'... Straight to the gig and M&G some cancer patients. Great show and audience as usual... On the buses to overnight to Atlanta (5 hours). 22 February Atlanta - Civic Centre. All up late as bus-lag. Off to gym. Pouring with rain today. GB phoner. Acoustic Team off at 4 m to perform for Star 94 at an old Recording Studio. About 60 people. Q&A + 'Need You Tonight', 'By My Side' and 'Pretty Vegas'. Went well. Straight to the gig and M&G... Pretty good show and crowd. Bunch of Aussies there and they bought us VB, pies sausage rolls, quiches & lamingtons... Unreal. Back to the Ritz Bar for drinks... Bed round pizdy 2:am... 23 February Atlanta Day Off. Pretty much a bed day for me... JD fly to Jacksonville today for radio stuff today and tomorrow. TF, Melodye, Wendi-Sue & I onto the bus and out to dinner with Driver Nick for some Soul Food at P. Diddy's restaurant called "Justin's." Great food. 24 February Jacksonville - Florida Theatre. Up and checkout @ 10:am and on the road to Florida. Same old, same old... Movies on the bus but somewhat quieter as JD flew yesterday to do early radio interview... Check in to the Omni... Down to the gig early for me. Funky lill' old theatre. Pretty good show. AF & I to the bar after along with Leigh, Tony + Wendi-Sue... 25th February Clearwater (Fla) - Ruth Eckerd Hall. Checkout and off round 11:am... Meant to restart sound checks to work on more new songs but I was unanimously outvoted... Keith & I (flew in w Maria today) down to the gig early... Teddy Riley, Lynne + Martha flew in today as well. Back to the Hotel bar for most... 26 February Boca Raton (Fla) - Mizner Park Amphitheatre. Originally this was the last Show of the Tour. Up & off @ midday and Band Meeting with Keith & Martha on one bus. Everyone else on the other bus. Discussed Australian Tour and Press launch,. Support acts, etc., for 2nd leg of Nth. American Tour. Stopped for Subway then back to our normal busses. Long drive and didn't get to the Boca Resort till 6pm. Keith, Maria, Teddy, Leigh and I straight to the gig. Big outdoor one today. So, great show... Cakes and champagne organised for Martha's birthday and we presented her with a surprise birthday gift. Most of the crew joined in for a sip of champers as well... Good fun. Most to Martha's room after. 27 February Boca Raton/Day Off. Sleep in then to the gym. All band + Martha, Jaimie, Lynne, and others out to dinner for Martha's birthday... 28 February (St. Louis) St. Charles - Family Arena. Hell day today.. lots of stuff. 10am off to the airport for a 1:am flight to St. Louis and Acoustic Team straight to 1st radio Y96 KYKY for live interview + perform 'Need You Tonight'. First time for JD to do a performance in the control room with the DJs on the live mics. Interview went well + TV interview at the same time as well. Quick photos and off to the next one in a little underground bar called "Duckies" for The River (radio station). James + Lindz (as with all acoustics) there for set up, etc. About 80 people and the usual hosted Q&A + perform. Did 'Need You Tonight', 'By My Side', 'Mystify' & 'Pretty Vegas' went pretty well. Straight in to the van (no signage or photo's) and off to the gig... The first of the 3 cancelled shows. Meet & Greet. All pretty tired but okay show and the crowd loved it... 1 March Kansas City (MO) - Midland Theatre. Depart @ 11:30am & Bus Band Meeting w Martha. JD phoner. Down to the gig early to start sorting out my clothes, etc. what stays, what goes home, + work on sounds. M&G. Onto the gig and okay show... All (except JD, Tony & the girls who are over-nighting to Minneapolis) back to the Hotel bar and some drinks w the Circus de Soleil troupe who are staying at the Hotel as well. 2 March LAST SHOW OF FIRST LEG. Minneapolis (MN) - Orpheum Theatre. Up and off to the little airport and fly to Minnie. GB meet up w JD for some radio interviews (KS95, KDWB + Cities95), rest to hotel. A nap for me. All to the gig @ 4pm to sort out luggage, clothes to stay or go, etc. Also, had a "Creative" Production Meeting w the crew for the next tour. 2 X M&G's. "Lovehammers" in to thank us for the tour bearing gifts for each of us. Great guys. We'll miss 'em. So, as is the usual with last shows of the tour, I pranked the "Lovehammers" by walking on stage sweeping the floor during there set... Did it twice.. Pretty funny. So, on w the show and a pretty gooden. Everyone finish packing up and back to the Hotel Bar for most along w the "Lovehammers..." Some 'til late. 3 March Minneapolis/LA/>>>> JD stay a day or two then fly home to Toronto. Rest of us arvo flight to LA then the late flight out of LA to Sydney. 4 March >>>>Flying>>>> 5 March >>>Syd. Arrive @ 8:am. Home, unpack, washing, etc. |

4 October Westlake for Band Meeting with Keith Naisbitt (our agent) about the Tour, etc... TF + I back to the Palazzo but have to give Guy CDs of songs a day early... (so, no time to get JD to sing on 'Get High'). Catch up on the Web Diary today. LB return from down the Coast. Get ready and all but GB family out to Keith Naisbitt's b'day dinner along with Dick Wilkins + Bec, Lynne, Suzie McNeil, Deanna Johnston, and a whole lotta others. Fun night. Too much wine again... 5 October LB off for X-Rays @ 8:30am. Yoga class for me. Midday, final song choice meeting with Guy... So, another GB song, a JF song + Hughie and my song 'Love Is The God' added. NZ phoner for me today (last one with 'The Rock' I think). I did some sax on 'Remember Who's Your Man' today. Rhythm trax + Vox in the main studio. LB + I out to dinner to Japanese. 6 October LB and I to the gym. I did some guitar on 'Perfect Strangers'. More rhythm tracks and vox and stuff today. JF did drums on 'Love Is The God' as well but tired so will review it TM. Walk home via "Lola's" for a drink... 7 October 11:am Tour Production Meeting in Martha's room. Only TF, GB and later JD needed in the Studio 2day. Rip Curl Malibu Pro start. So, Patra from Westlake drove me down to Malibu for the WCT Contest... Crap traffic though but got there in time for Layne's Round 2 heat. Layne posted best scores of the day.... Home to Chris Carters house, get ready and off to the local Malibu Thai for dinner. Early night as early start tomorrow. 8 October Day Off. Up @ 6:am and off to the contest for Layne to have a free surf.Contest start @ 7:30am. Layne and I off to Mex brek. Layne ripped it up in Round 3 with a 8.0 + 9.5, then bombed out in the Quarters with only one wave.... surfed her anger out for an hour. Watched some of the final. Lisa Hen. + Dan showed up at the end. Back to C.C.'s house for a swim and a relax before heading off to Mark + Roma's for a final dinner party before we all head back home. Whole band + the Poms down for it as well. All the other MBP's down as well like Goffin, Andy, Lisa, Paul Mirk, etc Fun night.... 9 October Day off again for me. Sleep in then Layne make breky then pack up and head back to LA. AF, TF + JD to Westlake today. Drop our stuff at the apartment then drop Layne's rent a car back. Layne start packing. Off to the movies to see "40 Year Old Virgin." More LB pack then out for an early dinner to "A.O.C." Finish packing and car pick LB up @ 8:15pm and off to fly home to Australia... 10 October Gym + yoga today. Off to Westlake and do sax + vox on 'Perfect Strangers' + 'Never Let You Go'. Also did some riff guitar stuff on 'Hot Girls'. All reviewing shots from the photo shoots to pick Band + individual shots. GB + I home round 6:30pm. Food shop. All but JD + AF to TF's room to watch the first cut of the 'Pretty Vegas' video. Really fantastic and only want to change one goofy shot of JF. LB arrive home safely. Cooked up a big lamb shank casserole that'll probably last me till I head home. 11 October Westlake and Brass Section today on 'Us', 'Devil's Party' & flute on 'Remember Who's Your Man'. Bit of a wait around day as Paul busy as well comping vocals today. Worked on Line 6 acoustic sounds for "H.O.B." show on Saturday. Home round 7pm along w GB. 12 October Gym in the morn. Off to Westlake and did some guitar on 'Hungry', sax on 'Remember Who's Your Man' + a couple of vox lines on 'Devil's Party'. Watched the 2nd cut of the video. Has lost the storyline and way too many edits. JD + I home round 8 m. Emails, tele, bed... 13 October More sax on 'Devil's Party'. Did 4 Australian phoners. Then did guitars on 'Brighter Future'. Other stuff + vox going on as well. Off for drinks @ Lola's with Mel + Joe. Hiccup. 14 October All to Westlake for hairs + makeup to do interview stuff for the album DVD. Mixing starts in Studio C today!!!! JD doing vox today and Guy at another Studio w/ Paul Mirkovitch re-doing strings for 'Afterglow' + 'Remember Who's Your Man' as not happy w the English orchestral arrangements. The new acoustic team (AF, JD, JF + me) rehearse the acoustic set for TM "House Of Blues" gig. 'Need You Tonight', 'Never Tear Us Apart', 'Pretty Vegas', 'Don't Change', 'Mystify'. JF playing congas and percussion but decided he should get a "Cocktail" drum kit for the gig. Lynne + Jen round to everyone's rooms tonight w the rest of our clothes & to help sort out outfits for the promo run and the tour. Went down to JD's room w a bottle of wine. His sister and her husband in town for the week. 15 October Off to the gym. Wholefoods for supplies. Start the monumental packing. JD doing vocals today. Acoustic Team (w JF on cocktail kit), did the 4 song set @ the "House of Blues" for Breast Cancer charity "City of Hope" and Star FM. Also did a quick red carpet. Went off and lots of screaming and fun was had by all. Steve Lukather came down to hang out and got up and played AF's electric in 'Never Tear Us Apart'. Then all off to the Playboy Mansion party (minus Martha, Emma, GB & TF), another breast cancer function. Pretty amazing place. Poms came as well (minus Richard). Good fun then AF and I to the after party at "W Hotel." 16 October Off to Westlake after lunch for vox on 'Devil's Party'. AF + JD down later. 6pm off to S.I.R. for rehearsals for the opening of the new Virgin Megastore gig TM. Also had to go through album credits, etc. 17 October April's HSC final exams commence. Virgin Megastore Show. Off to yoga in the morning. Stormy thunder and lightning rain today. Waited and kept postponing sound-check until finally called the gig off as too wet and dangerous to perform on the roof outside. Bummer. Still went down to do a big signing/photo meet and greet. Pretty weird as on a stage and one at a time, people file by, stop for a photo then, next... Then a big VIP party in a club over the road. Had a good chat to Richard Branson. Fun night. 18 October Band Meeting re Tour Production in Martha's room. Decided on 2 buses and one backing vocalist. Still working on stage design which JF came up with a cool, simple idea. Off to Westlake and the 2 Verizon competition winners there for the arvo. Quick meeting with Guy re mixing and making it sound more like INXS. Getting in Tim Palmer to do some mixes. Guy has decided to drop 'Brighter Future' as wrong key for JD and have run out of time to start it again in a new key. So the album now has 11 songs. GB at the doctors & not at the meeting so Guy told him later. Bummed. Finally onto vox for 'Love Is The God' which at JD's suggestion, we are changing the title to 'Like It Or Not'. TF + I off to Lola's and meet up w the 2 contest winners + Melissa. Fun night and home round 1:am. 19 October 10am Bland Meeting with Jamie, Martha + Keith. Off to Westlake. TF did some guitars on 'Like It Or Not'. JD finished all his vocals today....!!!!! Production meeting with Keith, new Production Manager Paul, Murch, Martha and band. Off home to continue packing. Mel + Joe over to get boxes of food and stuff that I'm not taking home with me. Discussed TF's 'Hot Girls' video idea. TF + JF & Kerry out to Luke's b'day dinner. 20 October LA>>> Dylan, Guy, myself + AF off to here the Tim Palmer mix of 'Hot Girls'. AWESOME.!!!! Then to Westlake for me to do B.V.'s on 'Hungry'. Prepare 'Like It Or Not' as Guy has opted for Tim to mix it...YEH.!! Big "creative" merchandising meeting with the guys from Giant today. Today is last day for credits and album cover stuff. I brought up the fact we need to do the running order. So...., string one together and all listen. Dave Goffin down too. Lots of sorting but by then, time for me to finish packing via Tim Palmer to listen to his 'Llike It Or Not' mix thus far. Sounds fantastic. Finish the big pack and Emma drive me to LAX airport. Just me going home tonight and the rest of the band minus JD + AF go tomorrow. Lucked out with the ground staff as way over weight. Whole band (minus me) out to an end of album dinner without the Producton crew. 21 October In the air on my way home AF + JD work on the B-Sides, 'Amateur Night' and 'Lets Ride'. Still album mixing. 22 October >>>Syd. Arrive @ 6:15am and straight through Customs with the 6 pieces of luggage.... Layne picked me up + Jason (Layne's brother) and the littlies there as well... Home and out to breakfast to La Baquette then food shop. Strange being home after 4 months in LA... Unpack then out to lunch with Layne and AP to "Aqua." Drinks w my neighbours, Mervo + Bellsey. Quiet night at home and no dinner as still full from lunch... TF, GB, JF + Kerry fly in, in the evening... 23 October Sleep in a bit, then Layne and I off to Botany Bay for a picnic kinda. Warm day... Watched the ARIA's (Oz Grammy's).... Pretty damn good talent these days.... 24 October Ah what a day. Reconcile 4 months of paperwork. Walk to the city to get an anniversary present for Layne then catch the ferry to Manly to have dinner with her Dad and sister. 25 October **ALBUM MASTERING FINISHED TODAY** Syd/Cowan Creek. Early rise as Layne and I hire a yacht for the night for our anniversary, so power pack and hightail it to Newport. Check in and do the debrief on the Bavarian built boat, "My Diane." Off by 11:30am and motor to the Cottage Point Inn in perfect time for a 1:30pm lunch. Quick look at the old house (where I grew up) then over to Little Shark Rock Beach for a swim at the beach. Tried to sail but no wind so, motor to America Bay for the night. Row to shore and pick some oysters of the rocks. Early night and LB read me some bedtime story - "The Dirt." 26 October America Bay/Syd/Farm Up @ 6:am and hang for a bit then motor to Resolute Bay at the mouth of Pittwater for a swim to the beach. Soak some sun then swim back to the boat, pack up and then go for a slow sail for an hour back to the Marina. Debrief then off to Layne's house for stuff as off to the farm this afternoon. Layne off to the Sydney Town Hall for a "Kids Right to Play" function then eventually off to the farm. Friends over for dinner. 27 October Farm. Relaxing day today. Didn't leave the house. Watched "Tombstone." 28 October Farm. Off on a bike ride round the property then a swim in the dam. Trip into town for lunch and supplies but went home for lunch.. Relaxo rest of the day. Watched "Sin City" 29 October Farm/Syd. Back to Sydney then pick up Ap's and off to Manly for an average lunch on the Corso. Stay at Layne's the night. 30 October Visit friends for lunch and the arvo. 31 October Walk to Circular Quay to get the Ferry across to Manly to hook up with Hughie and then Layne and Hughie's fiancée Bec for dinner. 1 November Melbourne Cup @ Manly Warringah Leagues Club with the Manly Eagle Angels (LB is one). Lost half of bets. Fun day. 2 November 10am Band Meeting conference. Received a copy of the finished "Story To Story" book. Looks great. 5 November Layne and I off to the Sands Pub for a "Busking Competition". Pick up April for the night and take her to the rest of the Comp. An amazing 12 year old boy won. Pretty cool. I gave out the People's Choice Award to a band called "Head Space". Layne and April do a Layne's wardrobe clean out... 6 November Lunch with Layne's Dad and sister. 7 November Dentist for me. 9 November GB, TF and I meet & greet all the staff at Sony/BMG in Sydney today. Did a bit of advanced press for the album. 10 November Off to Random House, the "Story to Story" book publishers, for a meet & greet. Off to the airport in the evening as Layne + Brooke depart for Hawaii for 4 weeks. 11 November Pick April up from her final exam and day at High School. Champagne to celebrate at her house with her Mum. 12 November Start packing. Off to our Forest High School Reunion @ Dee Why RSL. GB go as well, but no TF. Fun, funny night. 13 November April stay the night. 14 November Took April to a Gucci casting then had a meeting with her Agent re the future plan for her. Finish packing. 15 November Syd/LA/NYC "Story To Story" released in Nth. America today. So, off we go to the States. Fly to LA and clear customs then fly on to NYC and off to the Hotel, check in and then have some dinner. Busy couple of weeks coming up. |

1 September Off to the gym. 11:30am makeup @ CBS. 1pm TF and I off to Westlake to do an interview + liners for Fox w/ Molly. Went okay except Molly kept referring to me as a Frenchman... No "Clinic" this week as Singers performing a public chosen song + an original song in the forthcoming Performance Show. Home after a quick food shop then cook a big lamb casserole. "Star" magazine phoner for TF then me. Off to S.I.R. to check our gear for next 2 days rehearsals. Davo handed out copies of the just arrived, final draft of "Story To Story" to all the band to read in 5 days and make any last minute corrections... Back by 10 m and most start on the book??... 2 September Yoga class. 12:30pm a complimentary (from the apartment management) massage at Spa. Read some of the book. TF + GB down to S.I.R. early and the rest depart at 4:45pm. 2 "fly on the wall" cameras + all manage team, Keith Naisbitt + Dave Goffin down. Marty down first and chat for awhile then run through a dozen songs. Pretty good. Suzie down next and same. Went okay then home by about 9pm. More book... Guy Chambers (our album Producer) arrived from London today. 3 September Yoga class. Read some book. 1:30pm all off to S.I.R. to first have a meeting with Guy Chambers then rehearse as yesterday with the remaining 3 Singers. First up, Mig and chat then run through songs. Then same with JD then Jordis. Home by 9pm. 4 September Reality Show 109A (VH-1) Performance Taping 109B 9:45am depart for CBS All the singers doing an original + an MSN voted cover each and performing them as a set. All pretty good but JD + Marty stand out. Back to the apartments for an hour then all off to Lynne's (our Stylist) birthday BBQ bash at her place. Millions of food cooked by Darrell and great fun. We are now going to perform a new song 'Us' on the show on Wednesday as our first ever Band Performance on the Show (besides the Première Show)... 5 September Off to gym. More book reading. 2:45pm off to Westlake to rehearse 'Us' for the 109C show on Wednesday. Song sounding pretty good. Home by about 10 m. 6 September Performance 109B All reading the book then off to CBS for rehearsal of 'Us' with the Singers... Lots of MBP/CBS down to watch... Guy down to work out the Vocal parts with the Singers... Dave Navarro + Paul Mirkovich playing as well... Did my weekly report with The Rock radio station in New Zealand. Fun as usual/ Glad the other guys don't hear it. Finish @ 7pm and all home to read the book. 7 September Elimination Show 109C Up @ 5:30am and off to CBS for rehearsals including a couple of run throughs of 'Us' and work out how and when we get on and off the stage. Pretty exciting as our first full Band appearance on the Show since the initial premmiere at the Mansion (again with Dave). B3 - Jordis, Suzie + JD. 'Need You Tonight', 'Never Tear Us Apart' + "Mystify." Tough one this week but Jordis just didn't bring it so, bye to Jordis... AF + I to the Mix Van to check the mix of "Us" after the show. GB and I out to Marmalade Cafe for lunch with Chuck Fieldman + Steph. Home to finish the book which I did round 10:30pm. Watched the show... Sleeps round 11:30pm 8 September Up @ 6:am and all off to the mansion to partake in this weeks Band Interview Clinic w/ the Singers. Pretty relaxed and went okay. Also had a filmed Band discussion of the interviews as well as TF and my personal afterthoughts. GB, JF + AF to Westlake to start on a new song. TF and I the rest of the day off. Finished compiling JF + TF's book changes then send it all off to New York. Fuckin yay - what a job that was. Watch the U.S.Open. Sleeps round 10 m. 9 September Off to the gym. Phone interview with Wireless Flash New Radio. Lunch then all to Westlake except AF already there. JF + GB finish rhythm trax on 'Hot Girls'. TF home after his photo shoot for Guitar One as well as GB. Start getting the Singers in this week to sing on different tracks to see how they sound. Suzie up first. Got it straight away. Next JD who learnt it from Suzie's and went really well... the only one to sing the whole verse in one breath. Next Mig who learnt it from JD's and was great too. He's been working with the vocal coach and has lost some of his nasal characteristics in his vocals. Lastly Marty who put his slant on it and some great ideas too... All did well and all in their own ways... Band dinner with Guy + Dylan to discuss how they all went. Brief party in my room. 10 September Buffy and I off to the airport to meet Jake + Layne arriving @ 7:15am. Home via pick up a hire car. Same deal as yesterday down @ Westlake but singers doing another song today. I wagged today as Layne here. Watched half of "Rear Window." 11 September Reality Show 110A (VH-1) Performance Taping 110B 9:45am off to CBS. Watch the Reality Show which turned out pretty good... Mainly about our interviews. Then onto rehearsals. This is the last Performance Show... All went pretty well. JD's performance probably the best of the night. Quick photo shoot then home for dinner. Get ready and all off to the final Mansion Party. Fun night. Home and TF family to my room as well as AF a bit later. 12 September 9:30am Bland Meeting. All to Westlake at different times. Recording 'Shag On A Rock' today. All the singers down again today to sing on different tracks. Home round 8pm, rest later as GB do bass and JF redo drums. 13 September Performance 110B Sleep in then off to the gym for Layne and I. Lunch and emails, etc. Watch the rest of "Rear Window." Lots of computer crashes @ Westlake today. Get ready and Layne and I off to the "Surfer Poll Awards." Usual scene but Layne won "Best Performance in a Video" + "No. 5 Most Popular Surfer." Got home round midnight... 14 September Elimination Show 110C Up at 5:30am and off to CBS to hurry up and wait... Final B3 - Suzie, Mig + JD. Songs - "Suicide Blonde," "What You Need" + "Mystify." All sang really well and so really difficult deliberation. So, Sweet Suzie McNeil goes home... TF & I straight to Westlake for guitars on "Shag On A Rock" and I ended up playing slide guitar at TF's request. Sounding great. 2pm TF & I do webchats for Verizon then MSN @ Westlake. More guitars for me then Martha + TF pick me up and off to do Rockline with the Singers. Great fun. Had a few drinks with the 3 remaining Singers, Bob and the Rockline crew after then off home and bed round 12:30am. 15 September S.I.R. Rehearsals Down to Westlake to do sax on some songs. JF doing another drum take then GB + JF onto 'Hungry'. AF doing last Clinic - "Song writing" but with different song each singer. Singers down today to do vox on stuff as well. Phoner with Launch Radio for me. All off to S.I.R. to rehearse stuff for the Finale along with Paul Mirkovitch. Still trying to decide what songs to perform in the Finale. Home at 10:30pm. 16 September S.I.R. Rehearsals Down to Westlake to do bvs on some songs and also to organise backing tracks for the songs we are performing in the Finale. 2:30pm rehearsals + meeting first with Davo + Dave Goffin to lock in the songs etc for the Finale. I did a phoner for The Loop radio. So, doing 'Easy Easy' with the winner. So start on working it out. Guy down to help as well as Paul Mirkovitch. Sound good by the end of rehearsals. Finish up round 10 m. 17 September Reality Show 111A (VH-1) S.I.R. Rehearsals Layne and I off to yoga. Layne pack for Alaska today. 1pm off to rehearsals. Run through songs but my equipment playing up. Paul Mirkovitch singing for us for the rehearsals. 18 September Rehersals CBS Off to the gym. Rehearsals delayed... I went down to CBS early to go through sax reeds. So, ran through all the songs including 'Easy Easy' with each singer as well as the songs for the mini gig after the Finale with the new lead singer. TF + I do Argentina print media (Rolling Stone) as they have bought the show. Meant to go to Emmy "E!" red carpet but canned it is too tired. Martha + AF went but a Zoo, so turned around and went to the "Key Club" where GB + JF jamming with some of the HouseBand for the "Katrina" Benefit Concert. Quiet last night with Layne-o-leen for me... 19 September Rehearsals CBS Up @ 4:30am as Layne fly to Alaska this morning. 6am Martha,TF + I off to MJI (radio) to do 2 hours of radio interviews around the country with the final 3 Singers. Pretty good. Back to the Apartments for 1/2 hour. Full Finale camera block rehearsal at CBS and run through for the rest of the day. Finish round 7 m. 20 September Rockstar:INXS Show Finale Up @ 5:15am and off to CBS for rehearsals, etc. Run through stuff but no band rehearsals. All 3 did a cover with the Houseband then we deliberated and decided to send Mig home. (sorry Oz/Asia). Reset the stage for INXS. Did 'Don't Change' w Marty and "What You Need" w JD. Tough decision but then sent Marty home. Back on to the stage to do 'Easy Easy' w JD to end the show. Pretty amazing.... Then did the mini after concert to the TV audience and played 'Pretty Vegas' for the first time with JD without having rehearsed it with him ever (this version has gone on to be the B-Side in Europe and Australia!) plus 'What You Need', 'Don't Change', 'Suicide Blonde', 'Never Tear Us Apart' and 'Need You Tonight'. Took JD into the makeup room for champagne then Mark Burnett came in with tears in his eyes then Davo, Conrad, Martha, Murch + Jamie, etc... Then everyone else in including JD's family.. Off to do Press on the Show Set - CNN, TV Guide, VH-1, Argentinian Stuff, etc. for about 2-3 hours. Back to the Apartments for a half hour to rest/get ready then off to CBS for makeup, etc., and do Aussie Press on the set. Finally off to the Wrap Party at "The House of Blues" till great, late, hangover inducing fun.... 21 September April final day of school + Graduation Ball Press Day TF + JD up early as doing most of the morning press then share it around the rest of the day. All down to Westlake for a 11:am meeting with Epic (Kaz + Dave Massey). GB + JF doing some rhythm tracks... TF, JD and I home around 7 m and a quiet night. 22 September Press Day Mainly TF + JD today but I joined them for the Australian Today Show. Then off to perform 'Pretty Vegas' on the Ellen DeGeneres Show. Went really well. Some to the studio, TF + I home and out to dinner to Marmalade Cafe with Jake. Quiet night. 23 September Press Day Some to the studio then all rendezvous @ CBS to perform 'Pretty Vegas' on the "Late Late Show." Pretty good performance but very tight little set up. All to the Studio to put down one of JD's ideas called "Amateur Night." Put it down in about 2 hours and pretty good. Most home. 24 September Off to Westlake to put down 'Easy Easy'. Eventually on to recording and the usual difficulty of a one roomed studio. Got the drums and bass down then finish round 7 m and all home. Quiet night. 25 September DAY OFF. Off to the gym. Relaxo arvo. TF, Jake + Ramsell go get tatoos as well as JD but ran out of time for him. 26 September AF, TF + I did a Guitar World photo shoot + interview at Westlake... 5 hours later. More rhythm tracks today. Jake Farriss flies home today. JD & I home round 7 m w Martha. 27 September Off to the gym. 10am Epic Art Dept meeting with tomorrows photographer, Sheryl Nields @ Westlake re album artwork. Went pretty well and I suggested we call the Tour "Switched On" as the album is called "Switch." Onto more rhythm section. Lots of damage control discussions today. A decision a minute at the moment. Some back to the Aparts round 6:30pm and Ramsel + Amber round to dye heads in Martha's room. JF, GB & I the victims. Jamie Roberts fly in for a few days. Quiet night. AP photo shoot today. 28 September Photo Shoot. Off to the gym. 10:30am depart for downtown for photo session w/ Sheryl Nields. Start with individual shots. 3pm meet with Scott Duncan, the chosen 'Pretty Vegas' director, to discuss the video shoot. Onto three different group shots then finish about 7:30pm and home. Layne fly back from Alaska and got to the apartment round 11:30pm. 29 September All but TF & I to Westlake today. Layne & I to the gym. Walk down West 3rd to a Greek restaurant for lunch then food shop. Emails and stuff til TF & I depart for Westlake @ 4:15pm for the Mark Burnett + David Goffin listening. Good fun and both loved what they heard. Out to a "Brainstorm" dinner with Conrad, Goffin, Jamie, Martha, Mark, Roy + Clyde. Fun night and discussed pretty much everything. 30 September 9:30am Bland Meeting Off to Westlake for another Video meeting w/ Goffin, Roy, Kaleem + Scott Duncan to finalise the concept. Then onto me doing sax, guitars + vox on 'Us' all day. JF work on some of his songs today with JD. Home about 8 m then Layne and I off to Malibu with Jacki Hunter to the Opening Party for the Malibu Womens Surf Event. Good fun party... 1 October More rhythm tracks today. I worked in Studio E on the Hughie co-writes with JD. Only got a vocal on 'Love Is The God' then ixed off instrumentals of a couple of others. 2 October Video Shoot (desert) for 'Pretty Vegas' day 1 10am JD + I to Westlake to mix the Aftershow performance of 'Pretty Vegas' with Steve Churchyard to use as the B-side for the single in Australia, Europe and other countries. 1:30 pm all off to Lancaster in the Mojave Desert for some shots for the video. All into the Lincoln convertable for lots of "I see driving..." Back to LA round 8:30pm. Layne cooks dinner... 3 October Video Shoot for "Pretty Vegas" day 2 8:15am out to the same airport and warehouse (that we shot some of the opening scenes for the TV Show) to shoot the rest of the video. First up "I see walking" into the hanger, etc. Then most of the day doing performance shots. Finish round 8pm. |

1 August Reality Show 104A April starts her final year HSC trial exams. Took Layne shopping for "envelope" clothes at the Bev. Cent. + Melrose. All but AF off to the "E" envelope @ the Roosevelt. Big old Red Carpet thing. Stayed for about 45 mins then back home. Missed tonight's show though. 2 August Performance Show 104B Layne and I out to lunch to "La Piazza" w Michael + Michelle from Tourism Australia. Phone interview w NZ "The Rock" during lunch. TF and I off to "Skeleton Key" movie première and hook up with "The Singers" to do their first ever "Red Carpet" thing. Great fun and the "Singers" blown away with it all. Did a bunch of TV interviews, etc. after the 100 metres of photographers... 3 August Elimination Show 104C Layne to Seal Beach for the night. The horrible early start. This weeks B3-Ty, Brandon + Tara- Songs - 'Kick', 'Devil Inside' + 'Beautiful Girl'. Sent Tara home. KP to Westlake to meet with Line 6 tech + go thru some new potential sax FX units. Then AF, GB + I off for drinks @ Dave Navarro's bar "RokBar" for Raph's b'day (House Band guitarist). Good fun and all but AF left round 10:30pm. 4 August LB back from Seal Beach in the arvo I did the weekly Australian "MMM" press today as TF doing the "Press Junket Clinic." Layne and I out to the "Oakley Party" @ the "Key Club"... Went w Jacqui + Rachel Hunter. Stayed for a bit then to another huge, half outside Club for the "Maxim Magazine" party. Lotsa fun and home pretty late. 5 August Big sleep in then out to lunch with Andrew G from "Channel V" (Australia). Layne and I off to the "Globe" party at "CineSpace" for dinner + drinks. Fun party. Head home round 10:30pm. JF & Kerry + GB out to see Dave Navarro's band/jam at the House of Blues. Singers there as well and Jordis (birthday girl) got up and sang. 6 August 1:30pm off to Westlake for acoustic rehearsal then perform/record 'Need You Tonight', 'Never Tear Us Apart' + 'Mystify' with Marty, Ty & Jessica + interviews for Sirius Satellite Radio. Rehearsed same songs with JD + Suzie for Tuesdays early performance. Layne and I out to dinner to "Falcon" (LB's friends rest). Quiet nite. Watched most of Alf Hitch's version of "Mr. & Mrs. Smith." TF, AF + JF & Kerry out to see Steve Lukather's(Toto) jazz thing. Unbelievable. 7 August Reality Show 105A (Première on VH-1) Performance Taping 105B 9:am depart for CBS & watch 105A "Reality" show then onto rehearsals. Pretty good show but all pretty hard on Jessica + Brandon. Did some sound bites for Honda then meet + greet. Back to the apartments quickly then up to "the Mansion" for a big party with the Media and Sponsors. Had a big "sing along" in which AF + I played some INXS songs. Fun night. Seth Green, Ray Liotta, the Williams Sisters and other celebs there as well. Home about 2. Bed... 8 August Up, hangover and all band off to Westlake to jam. Good fun and put a cool hip-hop groove down. Home about 6 m. 9 August Performance Show 105B Up @ 5:30am and off to Clear-Channel to do live acoustic on Star 98.7FM. AF, JF & I along with JD & Suzie (out of a hat) & did 'Need You Tonight', 'Mystify' + Never Tear Us Apart. Fun but tired and me feeling a bit fluey. Back to the apartment for a bit. Then TF & I off to Westlake to do a pre-record for MJI syndicated radio. Great, relaxed interview... Helped that I fixed his mike stand. Home and lunch then food shop then relax. Getting flueyer... Layne and I watched most of "Ali." 10 August Elimination Show 105C Usual "sparrows fart" rise after a shocking night's sleep for me. Layne down the coast for a charity golf day. Stay the night there. This weeks B3-Jessica, Suzie + Brandon. Songs this week 'Disappear', 'Bitter Tears' + 'Don't Lose Your Head'. This week's encore - Ty, with 'No Woman Don't Cry'. Sang it even better. Sent Brandon home. Birthday cake and champers for JF straight after then GB, TF & I do a pretty funny "KTLA TV" interview. Wasn't happy with the TV mixes of the (our) songs so then went to the van to adjust the mixes of 'Bitter Tears' + 'Don't Lose Your Head'. Home to rest and get better.... 11 August Bit of a sleep in for me as still ill. Layne return round 1pm. Wardrobe @ CBS in arvo. Band dinner @ "Cafe de Artistes" with the winning team of this weeks Clinic - AF's "Song-writing Clinic." Team Ty won - Mig, Deanna + Suzie. Fun nite and they sang an "a Capella" version of their song 'Stop-Go.' Home by 10:30pm. Layne almost finish packing. 12 August Layne and I went to see a movie but didn't want to see any of them so home and watch "Giant." AF over half way through the movie to talk about stuff the very long "Giant" movie went from 3 or so hours to 5 or so hours. 18 August In the evening, AF, Murch, Emma, Martha and I off to Conrad's (MBP legal dude) Cocktail Party. Good fun and nice place... Home about 10:30pm. 19 August Yoga class. Off to Ramsell's (our hair dude for the show) salon for a "hairs do". Cooked a big casserole and invited AF over for dinner but busy mixing songs... So, casserole for one and watched Ghostbusters 2. 20 August Gym + yoga. Midday all off to the studio to jam w Marty Fredrickson. Wrote a song.. Band Meeting w/ Davo, Martha + Murch. Quiet night for all. 21 August Reality Show 107A (VH-1) Performance Taping 107B Off to CBS @ 9:45am Great show and I liked Deanna's original song more than Mig's. Pauley + Lauren from NCIS came. TF, JF + I did an interview for Variety mag after the show. Back to the Apartment to drop stuff off then all off to the Mansion Party... Similar to last time except we didn't participate in the jam... Got home around 3am-ish... Fun nite and had good chats with Jordis, JD + Suzie... 22 August Quiet, delicate, late start day for me. 23 August Performance 107B Gym. Food shop. Did the weekly "The Rock" NZ phoner... Funny guys those Kiwi's... 7pm Band Meeting in Martha's room... Watch the show and sounded better than in the Studio... 11pm TF + I did an hour long phoner Web-Chat for NineMSN. Went pretty well. Bed @ 12:30am. 24 August Elimination Show 107C Up @ 5:30am as earlier show as full one hour episode today (@ Mark's request)... So, depart @ 6:am. First show ever without Mark Burnett today... Interesting results today as Suzie the only one who didn't pop into the B3... So, the B3 - Ty, Deanna + Marty... 'What You Need', 'Elegantly Wasted' + 'Don't Change'. So, to fill the hour, conversation between us all re performances and frustrations... Band gave Suzie the encore and was a toss up with Ty. Getting really tough & personal now but sent Deanna home... V. emotional show. Cooked a big Thai dinner that should last a month... Watch the show... Pretty good show but horrible as Deanna (and everyone) so upset... 31 August In between gym, chirpractor, acupuncture, yoga sessions and reading Motley Crue's The Dirt, this last week has involved a lot of preparation work on the album. Lots of meetings with management, Epic's A&R team and our agent this week too. Plus our producer Guy Chambers has arrived. We also had the remaining six singers down to the studio with us to play them a bunch of new songs and the jam on a few more originals with them. Huge performance episode this week too. Choir, String Section, Brass Section, Gong, big extravaganza day... Results episode saw us bring out a few older tracks from the catalogue - 'The One Thing', 'This Time' and 'Listen Like Thieves'. Getting yucky now and sent home Ty... TF & I walk home via the Farmers Market for a chat... Home, lunch, then Variety magazine phone interview. GB + JF do an MSN WebChat this arvo. KP, TF Family + Greg (Wiggles) & Lucy out to dinner to La Piazza. Fun night and Tony Orlando performing in the Grove Pretty scarey. All to Marmalade Café along with Martha & AF (already there) for a drink then home to watch the show. |

11 June Layne back from the France comp. 15 June Band brush up on media stuff today. Good fun workshop. Off to the 2nd "State of Origin" Rugby game at "Telstra Stadium" with Layne in the evening. 16 June A day of "RockStar:INXS" Aussie Press for TF and I today. Went pretty well. Did a bunch of phoners as well. 20 June This week backed up songs and files to take to LA as well as sort out guitars and equipment to go. 21 June Whole band to Foxtel Studios to do promo's for the show. Then all to the Civic Hotel (one of the first inner city pubs we ever played) for the Foxtel media launch of Rockstar:INXS. Great turn out and went over well. 22 June Layne and I out to dinner with April and her boyfriend Oscar and then to see a play at the Opera House called "Ruby's Last Dollar." 23 June Layne Co-Host "The Footy Show" tonight so I went along with friends who decided to sit in the front row. Got me up to play with the "House Band" a few times and asked about the show. 24 June My Mum flew up from Tasmania today to stay for 5 days. Out to dinner with the Beachley Clan (Layne's fam.). 25 June Off to the Farm for a few days with Mum, April and Layne. 29 June Mum back to Tasmania today. Won't see her for a while now.... 2 July Big farewell/birthday party for me at my friends the Harrold's. Everyone wore hats, glasses and drew moustache/beards on their faces like mine. Very funny night. 3 July Finish packing and organising everything for the big sojourn to LA. 4 July Syd/LA. My birthday. Sad farewell to April then off to the airport along with Layne, AF, JF + Kerry. Qantas to LA. GB and fam. fly in from Fiji holiday. Land in LA on the morning of my birthday. long birthday this year cause of the dateline. Off to our new home away from home apartments. Great local as near "The Grove" shopping mall + a Farmers Market. Unpacked and settle in, then a Band Meeting and watch the nearly completed Premiere of Rockstar:INXS. Very exciting to finally see something after nearly 18 months planning. Layne and I out for birthday dinner. 5 July Of to CBS to say hi to the gang and check it all out. All off to get haircuts today. Started reading the second draft of the forthcoming INXS book 'Story to Story' today and have to finish it with corrections in less than a week. 6 July Some phoners and wardrobe meet today. Layne off to the "Dancing with the Stars" finally with her friends Jacqui and Rachel Hunter. I joined them for dinner afterwards. 7 July Off to CBS for orientation & then rehearsal with stand-ins. Went pretty well. Walk back from CBS. 7:30-9:30pm TF and I phone Press Conference from our rooms to S.E. Asia. Pretty out there and lots of tech. fuck ups. Continue on the book. 8 July Off to Dress Rehearsals @ 12:30pm. Wardrobe, makeup, etc. So, onto the couches but today rehearse w/ the singers. Filmed it as well for possible "groovin' action." Take a break then onto the next rehearsal with the singers. No commentary and all pretty good performances. Decided to all go up to a room to view the run through with all the tech staff as well. Discussed the sound and other stuff. Home about 9:30pm. Long day.... 9 July Performance Tape101B Off to CBS @ 11:am, makeup + wardrobe. Another run through with the singers. Partners and friends arrived then on with the show. Went really well and everyone really happy. Watched a bit of it then everyone split in different directions. Then off to meet Layne and friend Jacqui at The Grove and off to dinner at "Marmalade Cafe." AF + TF Showed up at the bar for champagne so AF joined for dinner whilst TF shopped for a robe. Home to bed exhausted round 11 m. 10 July DAY OFF. Off to the shops for that + late brunch. Rest of the day reading the book draft. 11 July ROCKSTAR:INXS PREMI?RE 101A Layne and I walk to Ralph's and do a big stock up food shop and Martha pick us up. 2pm off to the Mansion for photo's + some UK Press. Back to the Palazzo by 7pm. Watched the Premiere and had some champagne to celebrate the launch of the show. 12 July Performance Show 101B 10am off to Westlake Studio, our other home to do an interview w the UK Times T2 mag. Pretty funny as he set it up that he auditions. Off to rehearsals at CBS for the Elimination Tape. The Sony dudes, Steve Barnett. Michelle + Kaz down to CBS today to check it out. Finish round 6:30pm and all home. Layne off to Seal Beach (Calif) and Scorpion Bay (in Mexico) for a couple of weeks of surfing I have to finish the book by tomorrow... read some then watched the show. 13 July Elimination Show 101C Off to CBS @ 7:45am and into hair + makeup. The bottom 3 this week are Tara, Will + Suzie. Lunch then onto the show taping.... The 3 sang 'New Sensation', 'Need You Tonight' + 'Never Tear Us Apart' respectively. Off to the dressing room to deliberate for 20 mins. Sent home Will. 3pm Meeting w/ Davo, Mark, Conrad, Kaz, re Recording Schedule, etc. 14 July Up at 5:am to do the 3 hour cross America phoner radio thing. JF shoot the 1st Clinic today up @ the Mansion - Styling. Meet w/ AF re the book for 3 hours. Late lunch and work on final book stuff + my personal chapter, etc. till bed time. 15 July Early start and off to CBS for makeup then studio for a jam session w/ Arman, an Indonesian RockStar for StarTV in Asia. Great singer and good fun. Did 'Mystify' and 'Suicide Blonde' then did an interview with him is the interviewer. Crazy, crazy. Rest of the day off. 16 July 10:45am off to the studio to listen to songs and have a band meeting. Great songs all round. Back home round 5 m. 17 July Performance Taping 102B Get ready and off to CBS @ 9:45am for taping. Pretty relaxed morning and watched the rehearsals on our TV w/ Mark "B'day Boy" Burnett. Lots of discussion and then started to run really late. Quick rehearse on set then makeup and hair, etc. Mal Walker (the drummer from Tim's and my first band - Guinness) in town so got he and his business assoc. Craig in for the show. Birthday cake and a gift from us to Mark B. for his birthday Show went well. GB + I out to dinner to Marmalade Café w Mal Walker + Craig. 18 July Reality Show 102A Went for a big walk with TF and did a bit of a supplies shop at "Trader Joe's" on the walk back. Quiet rest of the day. 19 July Performance Show 102B Off to CBS for wardrobe for tonight's "envelope." Quick supplies shop then lunch and get ready. GB and I off to Sony/Epic w/ Davo to play songs to Kaz. Back by about 5:30pm. Off to the CBS media party... Photo frenzy then in we go... Lots of CBS TV Stars there. All did a couple of individual interviews then eventually escaped to go home and watch the show. Accosted by Pauley from "NCIS" on the way out and huge fan... maybe come to the show on Sunday. 20 July Elimination Show 102C 7:15am depart for CBS. Bottom 3 - Tara, Neil + Jessica - 'Mystify', 'Suicide Blonde' + 'Don't Change'. I got a haircut from our 4th hair guru, Ramsel (he's so hot right now...). Tape the show and then off to deliberate after the INXS songs... Really horrible and had to send home Neil as sang flat today and yesterday... Walk home from CBS and a bit of food shop than wrote a short piece on the 1st album recording sessions for the book. Quiet evening and watch the show. 21 July Dave Navarro sick today so TF had to fill in on GB's "Stage Craft" clinic shoot today up at the Mansion. Thus I had to do TF's phoners to NZ "The Rock" + Aust. TV Week. Layne back to Seal Beach from Mexico today. Go buy some bathroom scales. Quiet night. 22 July Day Off for me. 23 July Went and bought a cheap Food Processor so I could make my favourite Pesto. 2pm Bland Meeting @ Westlake. Then the singers down for a couple of hours hang out. Good fun and had a big jam session. Layne up for 3 nights stay. YAY!!! Out for a quick dinner then go see "Wedding Crashers." Pretty dam funny movie... 24 July Performance Taping 103B Depart @ 9:am for CBS Do the show and have taken on a bit harder line with the singers... it's time to get serious... Everyone claimed it a great show today. Quick TV Guide interview. Back to the pad then all but GB (Jody ill) + TF (ill) out to dinner w the MBP Production team + Dave & Brooke. Fun night and great food... 25 July Reality Show 103A Out for a big supermart shop as Layne has the car. Bought a bunch of DVDs. Watched a Cary Grant movie then dinner then get ready and off to the Gibson/Baldwin Celebrity Charity "Night at the Net" Tennis. Whole band minus JF went. Media frenzy for an hour then to the Gibson marquis for an hour then to the courtside box then everyone wanted to go. (except Layne and I). So, didn't see any of the tennis. Back to the pad and watch the Reality episode. 26 July Performance Show 103B GB + JF up to the Mansion to rehearse the INXS songs with the HouseBand and Singers. Layne back down the coast today. Quiet arvo/evening for me. Watched the show and pretty good. 27 July Elimination Show 103C. Usual early 7:am depart Bottom 3 - Daphna, Heather + Jessica (again). 'What You Need', 'By My Side' and 'Elegantly Wasted' this weeks songs and GB + JF playing them with the "House Band." Much more relaxed procedure this week. So.... Big shock result as sent home both Heather + Daphna. Everyone in shock "Clinic" meeting after for me w Dave + Producers. Home for a swim and a relaxo arvo. US Open WQS Surf Contest at Huntington Beach starts today (pretty small surf though). 28 July Up and off at 8:30am to do "Clinic 3 - Vocal Training" up @ the Mansion along w Dave + Vox Coach - Ron Anderson. Went pretty well and went through each singer then got them to sing a bit of 'Never Tear Us Apart' with me accompanying them on acoustic. Finished around 2:30pm. Rest of the day off for me. Layne breezed through her "USO" heats today posting the highest scores... Yay. 29 July 11:am Band Meeting @ the Studio w Bill our lawyer from the past. LB lost out in her 2nd heat of the day so. arrived round 6 m. I cooked a Thai dinner and we watched "Ray." Great movie. 30 July 4 m over to Mark Burnett's + Roma's for arvo drinks + dinner... Layne took Mark's son James for a surf. Great fun night. Home by about midnight. 31 July Performance Taping 104B Layne to Malibu to surf w mates for half the day. 9am tired departure to CBS and watch the "KP" Reality Show. Pretty good show and all did good this week. Off to "Little Italy" where TF & old mate (& USA INXS.com correspondent) Dan Jones havin' a drink. Layne and I joined then along with Nate (House Band drummer). Layne and I then had dinner there. All meet up @ "Marmalade Cafe" for dinner w old mate Steve Lukather (Toto) + Shawn except AF. 23 February LA Off to the Cocktail party at the Rock Star: INXS Mansion w/ MBP people, publishers and the Rock Star Houseband. Performed 'Bitter Tears', 'Mystify', 'N.Y.T' + 'Don't Change' with Paul from the Rock Star: INXS HouseBand. Schmooze then back to the Hotel. 24 February LA Band Meeting with Anthony (business associate) today. Off to MBP in the arvo to meet and greet and watch some of the audition tapes as AF, GB + JF haven't attended any auditions yet. Whole band down to the Hotel bar to meet up with a bunch of old friends including Sam Evans, Nick Conroy, Gary Grant, Rick Sales. Fun/funny night reminiscing. 25 February LA/Press/Open Call. Off to the Whiskey for lots of press today for TF + KP and a bunch of TV with the whole band. Watched a bunch of the Open Calls and some impressive people. 26 February LA/Press/Appointment All band do press at the Whiskey and watch a good chunk of the auditions today. Some great talent today and LA is shaping up to be one of the strongest cities on the audition Tour along with Toronto and Seattle... KP meet with Anthony and later joined by Gary Grant and Rick Sales... went late... All the band (except KP) out to dinner with Steve Lukather and Shawn. 27 February LA/Call Backs/Travel. Great bunch of Call-backs today. All band dispersing today. GB, AF + JF home to Oz and KP, TF + Davo of to NZ for the auditions there. 28 February >>>Transit>>> 1 March Auckland/Arrive/Auditions. Arrive early and off to the Hotel for the morning. Off to The Studio and have put all the auditions in to one day here. Some good people here and a great turn out for a tiny country.... Out to dinner with the MBP casting crew. 2 March Auckland/Sydney TF + KP off to do a live radio interview, some shopping then pack and off to the airport to fly home.... 5 March Sydney/Open Calls Whole band off to the Enmore Theatre and KP took April along as well. 6 March Sydney/Appointments. Great day today and some really great auditionees... Long day... Roxy Pro on the Gold Coast finished today and Layne knocked out in the semis. 7 March Sydney/Call Backs. Really good day and Sydney one of the best auditions. MBP casting crew depart in the evening so bit of a dinner get together no KP's house. Layne back to Sydney tonight. 14 March Band Meeting update today. KP doing some song writing with Hughie as well as yesterday and next couple of days. 20 March KP off to Melbourne to meet up with Layne for a week for the RipCurl/SPC Pro WCT surf contest at Bell's Beach. 24 March Band meeting at TF's house (except KP as at Bell's) to got through casting tapes. 25 March RipCurl/SPC Pro started today and Layne through to the quarterfinals. 26 March RipCurl/SPC Pro at Bell's finished today and Layne out in the quarters... bugger... 28 March KP + Layne back to Sydney today. 2 April INXS Recording @ Q studios 1. Into the old Rhinoceros premises, now called Q to record some instrumental versions of INXS songs. Lotsa fun but weird recording in Rhino again... Got about half way through. 3 April INXS Recording @ Q studios 2. Got almost everything done and AF + KP last to go home round 4:30 in the morning... Will finish a few bits when mixing next week. 6 April KP song writing with Hughie for the next few days. 11 April KP song writing with Hughie for the next few days. 18 April Syd/LA/NYC. KP, AF & David off to NYC for meetings... 19 April NYC/LA AF, KP & David at Meetings in NYC... 20 April Rest of the guys arrive today. KP, AF & David in more meetings... Band Meeting then all go and meet with Lynne (our long time stylist and friend...). Another long day.... 21 April LA Final Auditions Day 1. Early breakfast with the MBP team. Then into the final auditions (with the House Band backing). Great to hear and see them all perform with a band in an intimate setting. Layne got 2nd in the Roxy Pro in Fiji today. 22 April LA Final Auditions Day 2. Some amazing talent and great performances. 23 April LA Final Auditions Day 3. Have chosen those for more call backs. Tough 3 days... 24 April LA/Malibu All off to Mark's house for an arvo BBQ along with a lot of the key people involved with the show. Fun day. 25 April LA Final Call Backs. Really hard day today.... Can't they all stay? Everyone down today including some from CBS, MBP and all of us guys.... This is it!!! Big meeting in the evening with Lynne Bugai, our stylist and many other assorted helpers and assisters... 26 April LA Final Call Backs @ CBS today. Band Meeting to discuss the final bunch. Pack in the late arvo then off to a record company dinner. Off to the airport to fly home on the late flight. 28 April >>>Arrive home to Sydney. 3 May Layne and I off to Rebecca Davies Bear Fashion Show as it is Fashion Week. 4 May Layne off to Tahiti for the next WCT event today. 9 May Band brush up on media stuff today and tomorrow. Met with our hosts for the show, Brooke Burke and Dave Navarro. 17 May LA Wardrobe and rehearsals today. 18 May LA More wardrobe and rehearsals today. 19 May LA Shot some footage for the opening titles/montage for the show today. Yet still more Lynne wardrobe stuff. 20 May LA Band Meeting. 21 May LA Day Off... 22 May LA Day Off except TF + I do some phoners (interviews). 23 May LA Wardrobe then Band history interviews for use in the show for all today. 24 May LA TV Press and CBS Photo Shoot up at the Mansion today. 25 May LA Shoot more stuff for the opening titles of the Show today... Lots of hurry up and wait. 26 May LA More press, interviews + International I.Ds. Also had a creative meeting to go through aspects of the show and nut out some the ideas. 27 May LA And yes, more press but mainly print media today then finish packing and off to the airport for evening flights home. AF to London for a week or so. 29 May >>>>Sydney. 16 November I went to photographer Warwick Orme's exhibition of flowers... Great turn out and ran into some old acquaintances. 21 November Layne won the Roxy Pro in Hawaii today but lost her run of (6) world titles today to Sofia Mulanovich... 23 November Took April to the Nokia Mobile Couture Collections fashion parade. Very glitzy affair and April got photographed by all the photographers as it has leaked out that she has signed up with Chadwick's modelling Agency. Fun night. 24 November Band Meeting. Discussed Rock Star stuff and another project for 2005. 26 November April and I off to the farm for the weekend. 29 November Whole band out to dinner with Mark Opitz. INXS Group Gym Session (first ever) with Michelle Rowe the trainer. Good fun. Out (farewell) dinner with April then home and finish packing. Off to the airport and off to Hawaii to meet up with Layne. Arrive today and Layne pick me up. Off to Rocky Point. 7 December Layne and I off to Maui for the last Women's WCT surf event of the year, the Billabong Pro at ######## 10 December Billabong Pro started today and Layne through to the quarter finals... 11 December Off to the seven secret pools at Hana today. A 7km round trip to the 400ft Waimoku Falls. I twisted my right ankle badly... whoops. Great walk though, especially through the ominous, clanking bamboo forest... Pretty hairy drive to get there too..!!! 13 December Final day of the Billabong Pro and Layne lost out in the quarter finals... bugger.. Party at the Ritz Carlton... 14 December Maui/Honolulu>>>> Fly home today. 15 December >>>Sydney Arrived home in he evening. 19 December Layne and I off to the farm with her brothers family and April + Georgia. 21 December Back from the farm. 25 December Great relaxing day. Layne and I hung with April till 2:30pm then off to a do with Layne's family till early evening and home to Layne's house. Layne gave me an 8ft Mini-Mau surfboard for Christmas... 26 December Another Christmas dinner with more of Layne's family at her Dad's house. 30 December Layne and I off to the opening of Circus Oz. Great show. 31 December Layne and I off to Manly Wharf for New Years Eve. Layne doing some TV cross stuff throughout the night plus I did a small bit too. TF + Buffy joined us before midnight. Home about 12:30AM. Pretty quiet NYE... 2005 1 January Layne and I off on a campervan surfing road-trip up the coast for 5 days. Headed off round lunch time but the van broke down after about a half hour. So, they came and swapped it over... So, off on our trek north and stopped overnight (after Layne had a surf) at Palm Oasis Caravan Park at Bluey's beach... 2 January Layne surf in the morning then head off to Hughie's house for his 2nd annual "Farm-Fest Party Camp Out..." Parked the campervan, plugged in the power, switched on the air-con and started mixing up a mess of margaritas... Fun party with lots of live music till 4am... 3 January Up early and head back to the coast and up to Crescent Head but caravan park full, no surf and really crowded... Head back down to Port Macquarie but first I went for a surf on the new board. Great fun and lots of laughs for Layne (and others in the water...) 4 January Bit rainy today so sleep in then head back down to Bluey's Beach again. Surf on the way but current to strong for me. Check in to the Palm Oasis again for the night. 5 January I had another surf today then pack up and head back to Sydney to return Betty the campervan... Layne and I out on a date to see Ocean's 12. 12 January All INXS off to 301 Studios to record a version of The Pretender's song 'I'll Stand By You' for Tsunami Relief with Mark Lazotte and Chong Lim. Mark Opitz producing. Got a good take down before the day was through. Onto fixing bits and pieces, then home round 11pm. 13 January Some of the band back in to 301 today for overdubs including myself to put down the rhythm guitar part. 14 January Bland Meeting. More Rock Star stuff and also discussed the other secret project. 15 January Sydney/LA Layne and I fly to LA today. Off to the Australia Week "G'Day LA Black Tie Ball" as guests on the Fosters table. Really fun night and Mel, Nicole and Keith Urban received awards for their contributions in the US. Went to the after party for a while then bed. 16 January LA/>>>> Out to lunch with the Foster's crew then pack and get ready and of to the Australian Consulates pad for a big BBQ soiree. Layne and I off to the farm with April as well as Layne's friend Leslie who is writing Layne's biography. Layne and Leslie working on her book for the next couple of days. 22 January Back to Sydney from the farm. 24 January I did a portrait sitting for an artist friend of Hughie's named Graeme Payne today for his entry for the Australian Archibold Prize... 25 January TF and I off to 2MMM radio for about 4 hours to do multiple interviews for Rock Star. The MMM network are running an Australia wide competition to help find our new singer and a winner from each state will go to the Sydney auditions in March. 26 January Australia Day Up early and drop Layne and Brooke (Layne's p.a.) to the Opera House for the L.B. Oz Day Sydney Harbour Paddle Race. Picked them up on the other side round 11am. Off to friends BBQ in the arvo then home to pack. 27 January Sydney/LA/NYC TF and I off to the U.S. to start the Rock Star Audition Tour... TF ran into an Australian guy in LAX airport that was on his way home from the Orlando, Florida auditions. He has a callback in Oz and is a relative of Rove McManus. He promptly cornered TF in the bar and started singing at the top of his lungs to big applause from all the patrons in the bar. TF nearly missed the flight to NYC... 28 January NYC Day Off Bit of a get together in the Hotel bar and met a new business associate. Cool guy. 30 January NYC Open Call Our first audition day so were both a bit nervous about them. Off to CBGBs to check out some of the auditions. A mixed bag of people today. A couple of potentials and a number of guys and girls that were great. 31 January NYC Appointments Off to CBGBs and again, a couple of goodens. TF and I loved one guy in particular... Don't know if he's right for us but was sure as hell entertaining... TF and I did a bunch of press today for TV etc, including Entertainment Tonight. 1 February NYC Call Backs Some great performances today and 2-3 definite potentials. Very exciting. The guy we liked from yesterday was back and did a crackin' acoustic version of 'Don't Change'. He is a legend in our own minds... Tim and I out to dinner with our friend and buddy (who was our tour manager for a number of years...), Bruce Patron and also Angus who worked with us years ago. Funny night reminiscing. 2 February NYC/Toronto Travel Off to Toronto today. 3 February Toronto Day Off. 4 February Toronto Open Call. Off to the Mod Club for auditions. Watched a few then out into the "media frenzy" outside the club... Did about 10 or so interviews, mostly TV... Then some more inside. Didn't get to see a lot of auditions today as a result. 5 February Toronto Appointments Down to the club to watch auditions. Some good ones today but we will see tomorrow with the call-backs. 6 February Toronto Call Backs/>>>> Some great ones today and all especially liked one girl in particular. Had to leave early to finish packing and head to the airport to fly to London. 7 February >>>>London Arrive in London at 6:am and still dark... Nathan there to greet us. Out to dinner with friends to a Moroccan restaurant near the Hotel. Pretty funny night and TF tried on all these ill fitting Moroccan clothes they had for sale in the restaurant... Very funny. He bought a fez and a silk gown..?? 8 February London Open Call Stuck in UK transport hell and miss the auditions! TF and I arrive late and use the last of the daylight to go shopping... Both bought the same suits but different colours. I hate shopping with Tim.. 9 February London Appointments Off to the auditions @ Shepherds Bush Empire. The "offspring of past greats" auditioned today... very interesting. Great singer from Scotland too. Did a bit of press today including Kerrang! with their competition winner. Not bad either. 10 February London/Liverpool/London Off to the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts (set up by Paul McCartney) for auditions. A four and a bit hour drive there. Interesting day as people came from everywhere to the auditions. Germany, Scotland, Ireland, Italy, Holland, Scandinavia... A real mixed bag. Did some local press as well then back in the car and a five-hour drive back to London. 11 February London Call Backs Interesting day and again a couple of beauts. Did some photos with photographer Chantal. Also, a guy from a potential UK broadcaster down to chat, hang out and watch. Happy with today. Social evening tonight after starting to pack. Friend's birthday party at a new bar/club. 12 February London/Miami/New Orleans Off we go again. After being dropped at the wrong terminal at Heathrow, we got rewarded by getting bumped up on the flight to Miami. Gotta love that. Slept a lot of the flight. So, stopover in Miami for a bit then fly again... Finally got to the "N'awlins" and the Hotel at 11 m... long day. 13 February New Orleans Day Off Did my washing today. Out to dinner with TF and Davo. Watched some of the Grammys till jetlag hit... 14 February New Orleans Open Call More media scheduled around the auditions. 15 February New Orleans Appointments Down to Tipitina's for auditions. Interesting bunch. Some amazing performers but perhaps not quite what we're looking for although they could all sing and play fantastically. Went to a fabulous restaurant called Jacques-Imo's with TF, Davo and David Gotham from MBP. 16 February New Orleans Call Backs Down to Tipitina's again but no one there. Someone forgot to tell us of a time change for the callbacks... So, back to the Hotel... TF and I went to a few bars on Bourbon Street to check out some bands... fantastic. 17 February New Orleans/Houston/Seattle Travel Day Car, airplane, ground, airplane, ground, car, bed... 18 February Seattle Day Off I went for a walk to the markets for brunch, supplies and a bit of a shop. Went to dinner with the casting crew. Fun night. 19 February Seattle Open Call Didn't go down today. A business associate arrived from Oz today. All went out to dinner with he and his girl to a forgettable, overpriced "upmarket" pizza joint. 20 February Seattle Appointments Down to El Corazon for 2-3 hours. Really high standard of singers today, probably best yet. Really liked one guy in particular. Back to the Hotel and TF + I meet with Anthony for the rest of the afternoon. Out to dinner with the casting crew, Anthony and Hilary. Did a bit more project chat at the table. 21 February Seattle Call Backs Down to the gig and good stuff today. The guy from yesterday did great again and saw a couple of other guys but no really great girls that we saw. Back to the Hotel and I met with Anthony for the rest of the afternoon. Then out for dinner. Back to the hotel to pack. 22 February Seattle/LA Travel Day Up earliesh and off to the airport to fly to LA. JF flying in from Sydney. Check in to the Hotel then a band meeting in the late arvo. |

1 August Met with the Rock Star team at the Quay Grand Hotel today then lunch in the Hotel. All starting to come together. 2 August Layne and I off to Thredbo in NSW to go skiing/snowboarding and my friend Guy's band The Groove Robbers are playing for 2 weeks at the Alpine Hotel... Some of the band met with David Goffin (Rock Star) today to discuss further ideas, etc. 3 August Layne off snowboarding today (too blizzardy for me). Watched The Groove Robbers' show... very funny... 4 August I finally put my skis on and went for a "fang" for about an hour and a half... Layne snowboarded for most of the afternoon. Off to a rehearsal with the band as I am getting up with them tonight fully decked out in their '80s Glam style clothes, wig and all... Played for a whole set and Layne videoed it... better destroy that tape...!!! Funny, fun night. 5 August Back to Sydney. 7 August Layne and I off to an "80s dress up" 40th birthday party... The 80s are truly back...!!! scary... My brother Drew fell off the roof of his house today and off to hospital... nothing broke, but cuts and stitches though... 9 August Layne and I did a photo shoot for Pink Ribbon Magazine which is an annual magazine revolving around breast cancer. We did an interview for the mag a week ago. Some great shots... 12 August Had a b(l)and meeting today. Signed-off on the main structure of the TV show. Whole band and partners off to see the new incarnation of Cirque de Soleil tonight. Fantastico... 14 August I took April shopping for her School Formal (prom) dress and shoes, etc. Just lovely... 18 August Band meeting today. 20 August Layne and I off to the farm for the weekend. Listened to stacks of unsigned bands to pick songs for Layne's DVD Life In The Fast Layne. Found some corkers... 23 August Layne and I off to Melbourne for a few days of shopping, eating and fun... 24 August Off to the Mirrabel Rock Chefs exhibition in the evening then to the after function at The Night Cat club. The original Models did a set... great to catch up with them all... few too many drinks... 26 August Band Meeting. 4 September Layne and I off to see the Sydney Swans play against West Coast Eagles (Australian Football) at The Telstra Stadium. Fun night and exciting (but cold) match. 5 September Fathers Day so I went out to lunch with April. 10 September Layne and I off to the opening of the Manly Arts Festival of which Layne was the "opener" Good fun and she gave the mayor of Manly lots of s**t... Very funny... 14 September Layne off to California for the next WCT event at Malibu in a few weeks. 15 September Layne in LA and won the Surfer Magazine surfer poll award for "chick" of the year again... 17 September Mum up from Tasmania for 4 nights. Went to April's school rock concert. April playing drums in the headline act and did 6 songs. A proud time had... 21 September Mum home today. I finished off some sax solo parts on a new James Blundell track called 'Aint Got Love' and sent them off to them. 23 September Band meeting. Hughie and I went and saw a band called Kurtis from Byron Bay. Pretty good but crap sound... plus they didn't go on stage till after midnight... way past my bedtime. 24 September April's school formal so I chauffeured her and her date plus another couple... 26 September Went out to see Amy Vee and her band perform. Pretty good. 2 October The WCT surf contest starts in Malibu today... Layne lost out in round 2... I went and watched the rough cut of Layne's DVD, Life In The Fast Layne. Pretty good and entertaining... Also, went and saw Thievery Corporation at the Basement tonight. Disappointing as just "D. Jayed". Thought they would have at least a couple of musicians!! 6 October Took April in to see one of the model agencies and they want to sign her up... 7 October Layne back from California early... 9 October Layne and I off to see 2 of my absolute favourite bands, Faithless + Way Out West perform on the same bill at the Hordern Pavillion. Bloody excellent and went back and said hi to the Faithless guys after. 12 October Layne and off to the 10 year reunion of This Is Your Life get together. (Layne on it 3 or so years ago). Fun night. 13 October I went to a charity fund raiser lunch for Osteoporosis Australia. 15 October Layne and I off to a charity fund raiser breakfast for Breast Cancer today. 17 October Layne and I off to see Faithless + Way Out West perform again. Just the best... Went and partied till late in Nick's (Warren from W.O.W.) Hotel room. Got them all to play Murder in the Dark and Truth or Dare... very funny night. 19 October Layne and I off to see Chris Isaak at the State theatre. Very funny man... 21 October Band Meeting. 22 October Off to Darling Harbour and on to a large boat where they do a live audience MTV show (on Friday afternoons) for Layne to do an interview on. They planted me in the audience... Stayed to watch Sarah Blasko who's album I just love. 25 October Layne's and my anniversary so lunch and all day celebrations. 27 October Band clothing meeting for the upcoming photo shoot with Wendy McDougall. 28 October I did a motivational talk for the Wallabies football team. A casual affair in a restaurant in Coogee. Fun night and good bunch of blokes... Luck to them in their trip too the UK... Layne came too. 29 October Layne and I off to the farm for a few nights with her brother's family. 1 November Layne, Brooke (her assistant) and I off to see a band called The Ride On's perform as they have a couple of songs in Layne's DVD. Great band and no bass player... interesting. Projected some of Layne's movie during their performance. 2 November Layne and I off to a function for the Melbourne Cup (the biggest horse racing day in Australia)... 4 November Off to do the band photo shoot with Wendy McDougall. Lots of fun as shooting it like a video with a '60s spy theme. Off to a bunch of different locations including a QANTAS plane on the tarmac... Long day but lots of different shots... 6 November Layne off to Hawaii tonight for the last 2 WCT events for the year... 8 - 9 November Rehearsals with Jon Stevens for a corporate show on Wednesday night. Aahh, it all comes back to you... Sounding good. AF and I off to Chris Murphy's 50th surprise birthday party at a bar in town. Great night and caught up with a number of long lost people... 10 November INXS show at the Convention Centre in Darling Harbour. 4000 crazy people had a ball, as did we. Ronald never showed though!! |

3 May Australian Fashion Week in Sydney. Jon F, Kerry, Layne and I off to the "One Teaspoon" show in the evening. Pretty cool and different. 4 May Layne and I off to the daytime "Rebecca Davies" fashion show. Excellent stuff... I'd wear it if I was a girl and looked like them.... 5 May Layne off to Tahiti (Teahupoo) at 7:am for the 3rd event of the womens WCT surf tour. I'm not going. I did a radio interview on FBI this morning to chat about this months Australian only CD release of "INXS Squared." Good interview. Then off to AF's studio to shoot more footage for the "I'm Only Looking" DVD with Phil Deamer. Pretty painless. Took April on a date to the "Morrissey" fashion show in the evening. Pretty good and definitely one of the shows to be at this week. Lots of photo's with April and even a few television interviews together. 6 May The Billabong Pro started in Tahiti today and Layne's surfboards still haven't arrived so she had to borrow a board... Blitzed her heat and straight through to round 3... 11 May Layne came 3rd in the Billabong Pro Teahuppo... disappointed. Also, Layne the 'Laurius Awards Alternative Sportswoman of the Year' today but couldn't attend cause of the contest... 13 May Finished off my first article for a new women's magazine coming out in August. They have asked me to do regular (monthly) article on food, incorporating my travels, restaurants I've been to, etc., and a recipe each month. They seem really happy with the first one... 14 May I started training with a trainer today. Am going to try 2 times a week as well as gym and other activities. Layne home from Tahiti today. 15 May Off to North Sydney to shoot a cameo in a TV advert called Jeans For Genes day (a charity for research into serious and often life-threatening genetic disorders affecting children). Good fun and they are using 'New Sensation' in the TV ad with a bunch of babies playing the instruments and singing... 16 May Layne and I + JF & Kerry off to the premiere of the Thunderstruck movie. ?'twas okay. Didn't go to the party or anything. 19 May Layne of to France for the next surf event today. Off to a farewell dinner for Hughie tonight. He's off to the States for 3 months to song write with other songwriters and check out what's going on. Main stop, Nash(-vegas)ville... 25 May I started the 'Atkins diet' today....!? 29 May Layne came 3rd again in the France event... 2 June Layne back from France. 4 June Layne and I off to Tasmania for 5 nights to visit my Mum and do a couple of nights exploring. 10 June Band meeting to discuss Rockstar related stuff. Bit of a US network bid going on... Layne and I off to see De La Guarda Circus at Luna Park... Pretty out there show. 16 June TF and I over to visit Mal Walker, the drummer from our first band, Guinness. A couple of other guys we went to school with there as well to watch the State of Origin rugby football game. Great fun night. Listened to some of the old recordings... aaahhhh, memory lane... 17 June Tim and I did the radio show Rockline from the Nova radio station here, out live across Nth. America. Mainly talking about I'm Only Looking DVD just released. Went well and pretty funny. 18 June I went to see a bunch of short plays, one called Unhand Me Squire directed by my daughter April. Pretty good. 22 June Garry Beers birthday. 26 June Band Meeting. Our first official meeting with Mark Burnett and David Goffin re Rockstar TV show today. Went well and great blokes. Layne and I off to Telstra Stadium for a dinner then watch The Swans against Collingwood Australian Rules football match... 27 June Band (except TF) met with David Goffin today to run through ideas for the TV show. 29 June Bland meeting re the weekend's meetings. As they say, "all good..." 2 July Layne and I off to a surprise destination for my birthday weekend... The Golden Door Health Spa in the Hunter Valley... 4 July My birthday and Layne and I went to a fabulous restaurant at one of the wineries. 16 July Layne and I flew up to Noosa for the weekend for a celebrity tennis doubles comp. to raise money for the Starlight Foundation (a charity that grants terminally ill kids a wish). All the celebs paired off with an ex-professional. I'm so crap... Layne made it through to the final and lost by one point in a tiebreaker... 21 July Layne and I off to the launch of Lights, Camera, Action in Redfern in Sydney. An old mate of mine, Vinnie Stone is running the centre which is a project that gives local indigenous people an opportunity to gain acting and extra work in film and television, and in print media advertising. Pretty cool place and great to catch up with Vinnie who I spent some time writing songs with a few years back. 22 July Today I started on going through 3 years of my diaries to record all the gigs we did in 1983-85 for INXS.com... (several days later... you owe me Nathan...) 29 July Layne and I off to the Women and Freedom Photo Exhibition and auction at the NSW Art Gallery to raise money for Amnesty International and women's rights. There is a photo of Layne in the exhibition. 30 July Layne and I off to April's (my daughter) school's production of Foot Loose. Aaahh, the things you do for love... Pretty good. April in the chorus cast, but what a star...!!! |

10 February Layne and I off to the NSW Sports Awards as Layne nominated. She won sports person of the year... yay... 11 February Watched the premiere of "The Resort," a new reality TV show set on an island in Fiji. Jon Stevens is the host. Pretty good and Jon did well... 12 February Syd/Melbourne. Off to 301 Studio to film extra interview footage for the forthcoming "I?'m Only Looking" DVD. Went pretty well. Layne and I fly to Melbourne to be guests at the "Alan Border Medal" dinner/awards thingy. Really fun night then off to the Casino Bar with all the Aussie cricketers till late. 13 February Melbourne. Off to a arvo BBQ/party at Globe for a meet and greet (Layne sponsored by Gallaz). 14 February Melb/Sydney. Off to the "Globe World Cup Skateboard Championship" at the Rod Laver Arena as Layne has to make an appearance. Pretty amazing set up. Totally rad dude.... Fly home in the early evening. 20 February Layne and I did the Sydney Harbour Bridge climb with the recipients/winners of Layne?'s "Aim For the Stars" foundation. I hate heights so face my fears.... I really hate heights.... Then off to the dinner/auction/awarding of the winners soiree in the evening. Fun night and "Hughie" and band performed as the entertainment for the night. Lotsa fun. 27 February Syd/Gold Coast. Today I flew up to Queensland to stay with Layne at Burleigh for a week or so for the first women?'s (WCT) surf event of the year... the Roxy Pro. 28 February Gold Coast. Off to Sea World via the wrong hwy... (whoops) for Layne to do a shot in the water with the dolphins for the RSPCA (injured or mistreated animal care group). I was meant to have a swim with them as well but ran out of time... Went to check out the Versace Hotel for a cocktail. Pretty cool and not that over the top... Off to the ASP Banquet @ the Marriot Hotel ballroom on the Gold Coast in the evening for the official crowning of the 2003 King and Queen of surfing... Layne and Andy Irons (Hawaii)... what a couple. Long night but fun and home straight after the presentations and bed... 3 March Gold Coast. Roxy Pro started today and Layne got through to the quarter finals... 4 March Gold Coast. Off to a cocktail party put on by Boost mobile (one of Layne's sponsors) then to the Globe film premiere of "Somewhere, Anywhere, Everywhere." Full red carpet, limo treatment. Great movie. 11 March Gold Coast/Sydney. Roxy Pro Day 2/quarter finals. Layne lost her heat.... bummer. Hightail to the flat, pack up and fly back to Sydney in time to get ready and go to the Australian Sports Awards. Layne nominated. Suit and tie sit down dinner. Layne won Australian Sports person of the Year..... 21 March Layne doing some filming today for a "Globe" video called "AKA Surfer Girl." and... they shot bits of me..? 22 March Had a band meeting today but it's a secret. 24 March Layne and I out to the "Star City" Lyric Theatre to see "Cirque Dreame." Fantastico... a big bunch of muscled dudes... 27 March syd/Newcastle. Andy Faz birthday. So, Layne drive back from Newcastle and pick me up and back to Newcastle. Get ready and off to the S.I.D.'s (sudden infant death syndrome) Charity Ball @ West's Leagues Club. Many of the WCT men and a couple of the girls there. Fun evening and some very funny moments with the evenings entertainment. Back to Sydney tomorrow. 31 March Layne and I off to the Hughie gig at the Bridge Hotel and a live recording tonight. Bit of a flat show but fairly good turn out. 7 April Layne and I off to the UBS Warburg Bank corporate dinner @ a place called Bondi Social. Layne doing a "Q. & A." type motivational speech. Great fun and LB was great. 8 April Band meeting today and it's still a secret.... 9 April My daughter April's 16th birthday party tonight with boys and alcohol/2 drinks each.... Oh my God.... 10 April Layne and I + friends off to the Randwick Derby Race Day (start of the autumn horse racing carnival). Came home 20 bucks down... Layne substantially more. Nathan and Juliet arrived from the UK today for a holiday in Oz. 12 April April's 16th birthday so out to dinner with some of her friends, etc. 13 April I had lunch with Nathan and Juliet near my place. Good to seee them... well Juliet anyway.. huh.!!! 14 April Layne and I off to the Emirates Race Day @ Randwick Race Course. Very swish and exclusive affair.... Great fun and I tripled my money... Then to the opening of a new Rolls Royce showroom (my friend Bevin is the Australia/N.Z. salesman). Got a bunch of the Emirates people into the party as well.... Layne presenting the surfwear award. A fun glittering affair. 16 April Syd/Fiji. Layne and I fly to Fiji for the second WCT women's surf evnt of the year on Tavarua Island. Stay in Nadi tonight. 17 April Tavarua. Off to Tavarua Island early. Attend the welcoming (karva) ceremony in the arvo. 19 April Tavarua. Ran the first round of the Roxy Pro today and Layne through to round 3. 20 April Tavarua. Ran some more of the event today and Layne through to the quarter finals but postponed. Bit of a party night on the island. 23 April Tavarua. Last day and contest on today and Layne lost her heat... bugger... Back to the island and the official presentation and party... wild party and most of it went out live on the internet via the Roxypro site... Sore heads tomorrow. 24 April Tavarua/Nadi. Up early, pack and off to the mainland for the night. 25 April Nadi/Sydney. Fly home to Sydney. ANZAC Day in Oz so went to a club to play "Two-Up," a now illegal game (only legal on this day every year) involving 3 "penny's" (coins) and lots of betting, drinking and yelling. I'm on a winning streak... 28 April Layne and I (and Brooke, LB's assistant) off to a charity auction that Layne is a patron. Good fun and I bid and bought a signed cricket ball that I'm going to give Tim for his birthday. (hope he doesn't read this...). 30 April Layne, April and I (+ Brooke) all off to a fund raiser for the Kerry Pothurst Olympic Volley Ball team @ M.W. Leagues Club. Very entertaining night and great fun. I bought a funky little painting for 5- in the silent auction. I was the only bidder.....hhmmm? Well I like it...!! |

15 December I did all my christmas cards today... 53... why??? 17 December Layne arrived home from Hawaii with World Champion Title number 6 under her belt (well, in a shipping box actually)... 19 December Had a band and partners christmas BBQ at AF?'s house. Hot and fun day. Layne and I off to TF family's house in Collaroy for some xmas champagne. 21 December Party at Layne?'s place to celebrate her triumphant return.!!! AF and family off to Western Australia for a month long holiday/trek... 25 December Stinking hot christmas day. Lunch at Layne's and dinner at April's... Huge day.... 26 December Syd./Adelaide Layne, April and I off to Adelaide for my brother Drew's 50th birthday party. Whole family and relatives there and a large fun day... 28 December Adelaide/Syd. Fly back to Sydney. 31 December (New Years Eve) Layne and I off to The Lord Mayor of Sydney's NYE Ball at the Opera House. The theme and dress code was elegant/casual 'Tropical Fantasy.????' hhmmm.... Walked home from the Opera House to my house... 2004 4th January Layne and I off to the cricket at the SCG with Layne's assistant, Brooke and a friend. Australia verses India and Steve Waugh's last test at the SCG... TF, JF + GB in a box some where else in the grounds. Chris Thomas (produced L.L.T., Kick + X) there today too. 11 January Layne and I off to a casual party/BBQ for some of the international tennis players out here at Manly Surf Club. Then off to Greg Matthew's (ex Aussie cricketer - yeh, yeh, yeh...) for a BBQ/party in honour of Chris Thomas (see 4th Jan.). Great to see him and had a good chat about the olden days. 13 January Off to the Australian premiere of Step In To Liquid, a surfing movie that Layne is in at the Open Air Cinema overlooking the Opera House, etc... Great movie... Probably the best surf movie ever made. Started to rain in the last few minutes... talk about scratch and sniff..!!???" Layne and I walked home to my house in the rain... soaked but fun as a balmy night. 17 January GB, JF + Kerry, Davo + Cosi and Layne + I, all off to the Adidas Cup Tennis out @ Homebush. Really hot!! Hung out in the corporate hospitality for half the day as air conditioned and monster TV screen... 18 January Layne and I up early and off to do the 5 kilometre fund raising walk for the 2 toddlers critically injured in a kindergarten/car accident in Manly in Sydney. TF got up and jammed at the concert part of the benefit day. Raised over 0,000 for the 2 kids and their families. 23 January AF and family return from their Western Australian month long holiday/trek... 25 January Layne and I off water-skiing along with my brother Drew and Anna (staying for a week) at Windsor on the Hawkesbury river. I had trouble getting up but Layne straight up on a wake-board. 26 January Australia Day. Layne off early for her Harbour Paddle Race (5 km). In the evening, Layne, Drew and I jump onto Niicorette, the racing yacht, to sail in the Australia Day Tall Ship procession into Darling Harbour before the fireworks. 30 Jan - 1 February The band + Davo up to Coffs Harbour for the weekend to the Opal Cove Resort for a weekend of meetings re: the future. Really great, positive weekend. All raring to go... 5 February Layne and I and a friend, Shealagh, off to see Bryan Ferry at the State Theatre. Great show. Caught up with Beet, Steve Lukather's (from Toto) guitar tech and he delivered a pressie form Luke for me... one of his Musicman signature guitars... unbelievable. What a guy... 7 February I was meant to play in a celebrity tennis fund raiser today but couldn't due to a shoulder injury from water-skiing (25th Jan). Went down to support anyway and Layne played. 8 February Off to the cricket at the SCG for a one-dayer between Australia and India... India pathetic... Fun day but boring match. |

18 November Rotterdam/Ahoy 23 Opening Show Soundcheck today and all sounds pretty similar to Antwerp. Much longer walk for the NTUA sax solo though... I'm gonna have to run to get back to stage for the outro sax in the 4th chorus.... So, the first of 14 shows in a row. Starts half an hour earlier and the venue is half an hour away from the Hotel so, depart from the Hotel @ 7:30pm every night. Groundhog Day here we come... Good show and I made it back just in time for the sax in the last chorus. But, the orchestra set up a lot closer and so I got stuck in the middle of the orchestra and couldn't get through..!!! Most off to Harvey's for a few bevy's after... me to bed. 19 November Rotterdam/Ahoy 24 I went down to the venue earlier to check my guitar as it sounded a bit weaker last night. Also, decided to try a shorter intro on Mystify tonight... Kind of worked. Did a runner straight off stage and into the van tonight as last night the traffic sucked. Harvey's..? 20 November Rotterdam/Ahoy 25 TV Recording tonight for Dutch TV All felt we performed well and hopefully will look good on the TV... All but TF and I, over to Harvey's and Keno (our in-ear monitor technician...) and JS rule the pool tables... yay team. 21 November Rotterdam/Ahoy 26 Stir fry in Kirk's Kitchen for lunch today. TF, Nathan, Luke (Toto) and I out to early dinner at the Italian, La Gondola opposite the Hotel. Pretty good show but a bit flatter than last night... I got a much needed haircut from Gerard (En Vogue's stylist/makeup dude) during the in between time. TF, JF and I did a runner after the show. 22 November Rotterdam/Ahoy 27 All up at 9:am (except JF) and down to a conference room to watch the World Cup Rugby final... Australia Vs England... England won by one goal... Pretty good show. So, all over to the VIP tent after the show but sucks as no vibe and the band/jam set up no where as good so, bar it...!!! Most back to the other Hotel (Atlanta) Bar... 23 November Rotterdam/Ahoy 28 GB up to Hilversum to Frank's studio to listen to the final mixes for The Proms CD. TF, Roger + Victoria (friend's of TF over for a visit) and I, up to the other Hotel for Tepanyaki dinner with Luke. All ate too much... Off to the gig and pretty good tonight.. Lots of energy. All but TF + JF (and Kerry) over to Harvey's after. 24 November Rotterdam/Ahoy 29 Groundhog Day continues... seems to be a flu/virus starting to go round... Maxine from En Vogue has it... Usual show. 25 November Rotterdam/Ahoy 30 TF's wife, Buffy arrives tonight GB has woken up with the lurgy... Perty good show... TF + GB wag the finale as Buffy's here, and GB sick. JS, Keno, Nath and I to Harvey's as catering crew going tonight.. 26 November Rotterdam/Ahoy 31 My turn to feel lurgy-ish.... So, that's GB and I + Maxine and Teri from EnVogue. Great show though. The Dutch street team up to the change room for photo's, etc. Straight to bed for me... 27 November Rotterdam/Ahoy 32 I am now ill... (again...) so, bed day. Good show tonight... I took an early mark straight after our set and wagged the finale and straight to bed. Maxine + Teri no finale as well... Big night at Harvey's. 28 November Rotterdam/Ahoy 33 I'm really sick now and GB relapse as well... En Vogue cancel their show... Okay show... soldier on. GB and I do the runner again and wag the finale. 29 November Rotterdam/Ahoy 34 I'm sick still... but improving. No En Vogue again tonight... Really good show and crowd except I got lost in the sax solo... jazz I guess... All hung around for Hey Dude. Everyone started throwing their flowers onto JFK's (John Miles) piano and last of all I threw mine, which rolled up the mountain of flowers and hit him in the face... Everyone including the orchestra lost it... Home straight away for sick me... 30 November Rotterdam/Ahoy 35 Another quiet day for me as still trying to get better... Good show and in the break, TF + I met and sat with Sandra, a girl that went to our Maastricht show in 1991 and got crushed, resulting in her now being paraplegic. She hadn't been able to listen to INXS 'til now. Brave girl. Meant to be planing pranks, etc. for tomorrow's show but didn't really get round to it... Finale pretty funny tonight as the John Miles band played it reggae... Weird... 1 December Rotterdam/Ahoy 36 Last Show (for INXS) "The Last Supper" in Kirk's Kitchen today... it will be sadly missed. All signed 100 Live Baby Live DVD sleeves for competition + cards for all the key Proms people to go with their farewell present of "Australian Chocolates." Off to the last show. Lots of phone number swaps and autographs and stuff tonight. Great show for INXS... So, the "Pranks....?" A very large "Hansell & Gretell" came out during 'New Sensation' and pinched our butts, kissed us all, etc., then a Spinal Tap Stonehenge came down from above in the NTUA gap... V. funny. Also we had set up Heidi + Inga (2 of the dancers) to come out with cocktails in the gap in NTUA as well... Got Toto back by all going on stage for "Tow the Line" with chairs, paper and pens and I read a newspaper. Gave scores, made paper planes, chucked rolls of paper at Luke, etc... v. funny. All off to Harvey's 'til late... Even big Jan (promoter) showed up..!!! 2 December Rotterdam/Amsterdam/London>>>> So, pack etc. TF + Buff depart at 9:30am as off on a holiday to Madrid and Thailand on their way home. Rest of us check out and in cars to drive to Amsterdam Schipol airport and off to London and beyond....... 3 December >>>Singapore>>> 4 December >>>>Sydney. Arrived usual time... 6:20am. 9 December 7 m Live Baby Live web chat at the Basement with JF & I. Good fun and went for an hour and a half instead of an hour as they had initial trouble getting the chat room through to the control room...Davo and I off to the Christina Aguilera Concert @ the Ent. Cent. Along with Hughie. JF + Kerry joined later as well. Rob Kern (JF's former drum tech.) is the Production Manager. Great show and I went down the front for a closer observation. She is truly amazing, especially at only 22... Hughie and I home via a few beers then a few beers @ home and bed round 1:30am. 10 December 8 m Hughie Video launch @ the Bridge Hotel. Great show and a lot of the video people there. The band played really well with renewed enthusiasm as it is now being distributed by MGM and we have redone all the artwork for the Still In Bed album. Everyone shuffled into the other to watch the video a couple of times on the big screen...A bunch of us then went to the Iguanna Bar for an hour or 2 and Christina Aguilera there... Said hello but lots of "yes" people and attitude there... Lessons in how to become lonely... 12 December Sanctuary Cove All on a 12:30pm flight to the Gold Coast and off to the Sanctuary Cove Resort. Big soundcheck in the arvo to remember the songs as haven't played them for 3 months (except the Proms songs...) + GB unable to do these 2 shows so Lord Farquar (Dario Bortolin) back. 8 m show. Played pretty well considering long time no AF, Dario or full set. Some to the after show party. I went straight to bed as getting up at 5:15am tomorrow to watch the Billabong Pro live scores on the net... 13 December Albury/Summer Jam/Lavington Sports Ground So, up at 5:15am for me... Off Layne went... win, win, win and into the final!!!! All check out at 10:am and off to Brisbane airport to fly to Albury via Sydney. Layne's final on whilst we were in the air en route to Albury... Got a message on arrival that she won...!!! Six Times World Champion... Now the best surfer, female or male, ever...!! So, check in to the Manor House Hotel at 4:30pm. JF, Kerry and I to the bar for a few beers and then joined by the Rogue Traders boys (One of my Kind). Top guys and ended up having dinner in the restaurant/bar. Off to the giggle round 9 m. Disappointing turn out as only a couple of thousand... Had a great show and played really well... Officially our last show with Rangi (JS)... All off to the official after show party @ the Globe Hotel. Rogue Traders did a DJ set. Pretty fun but late night. 14 December 10:am flight and the rest on the 4 m flightHome, unpack and a nap then meet Davo out at Stadium Australia, along with AF and Shelly for the Duran Duran/Robbie Williams show. Went back to say hi to the Durany's after their set (as they invited us to the show). Great to see them and they played really well. Watched about an hour of Robbie... His in-between banter was more entertaining than the music... And in case I don't update before Christmas - HOPE YOU ALL HAVE A FANTASTIC CHRISTMAS AND FESTIVE SEASON. 23 October Antwerpen/Sportpaleis 4. JF rehearsing with "Toto" again today. Soundcheck today to get our "in-ears" balanced. Great show. JF was fantastic with "Toto." He's such a great drummer! 24 October Antwerpen/Sportpaleis 5. JF rehearse with "Toto" again today. Show okay and JF really locked in with the "Toto" songs now... 25 October Antwerpen/Sportpaleis 6. Layne arrived today for 10 day visit. Really good show tonight and JF perform with "Toto" again. All off to the "VIP tent" after the show. JS, JF, GB and I, got up for a jam with some of the "Toto" guys... Great fun. Back to the Hotel bar. 26 October Antwerpen/Sportpaleis 7. Davo, Nathan, TF, Layne and I off to the Antwerp Zoo... Pretty cold and depressing. Animals really bored. Weird seeing tropical animals in such a cold surrounding... Earlier seated show today. Good show. JF's last night with "Toto" as Ricky arrived today to take the drum stool for them for the rest of the tour. Quiet night. 27 October Antwerpen/Day Off. Layne and I off to the river to a restaurant called "Zuiderterras" for late lunch. Walk to "De Kathedraal of our Lady" and have a look through. Massive. Went and saw "Pirates of the Caribbean." Great movie. Johnny Depp plays a great Keith Richards! 28 October Antwerpen/Day Off. Midday off to Robert (Conductor) Groslot "computer designed paintings" exhibition... Pretty cool..?? I cooked a crap "Chicken Thai Green Curry" for dinner... 29 October Antwerpen/Sportpaleis 8. "Aquatopia" (a fish zoo with everything from sea-horses to jellyfish to a few small sharks) opened today next to the Hotel, so we all got to go check it out. Pretty well done.... I cooked a stir fry for late lunch... much better... Great show but the orchestra timing still out in "N.T.U.A." Off to the Hotel bar and then some out to a club till late. 30 October Antwerpen/Sportpaleis 9. Good show. JS and I did a whole bunch of press after the show for the Dutch leg of "the Proms." Most to the Hotel bar as usual. 31 October Antwerpen/Sportpaleis 10. TV Recording 1. I've caught a cold or something... Caught a tram to the "Kathedraal Square" for lunch @ "Brasserie de Vaalk" w/Nath + TF. Fantastic BBQ your self (food that is...) on a hot stone tile... Played really well but mucked up a few of the planned antics... Most had an early night. 1 November Antwerpen/Sportpaleis 11. TV Recording 2. I'm sick... Off to the laundromat to put the washing on.... Hate that place. Layne made a tofu salad for lunch. Much better show and everyone did my idea of each band walking forward with their singer in "Hey Dude..." Went over a treat... Layne and I straight to bed. 2 November Antwerpen/Sportpaleis 12. I'm still really sick... 4 m soundcheck as TF going back to a wireless guitar system from tonight on. Most remained at the gig. Filled in time playing 500s... KP/JS against JF/Layne... KP/JS won. The usual Sunday early seated show tonight. Okay show. LB and I straight to bed... TF borrowed "Kirk's Kitchen Cooker" to reheat his room service "Spag. Bog." A big hit in the TF room. Some out to "Studio 54", a gay club, along w/ En Vogue, Luke + Shawn (Toto), etc... till late. 3 November Antwerpen/Day Off. JF and Kerry off to the Belgian town of Brugges for 2 nights. Played 500s in the arvo with JS + TF then with Keno (our monitor guy) as TF off to Brussels with Nathan to see a band called Starsailor. Layne start to semi pack and both pack for our Paris trip tomorrow. 4 November Antwerpen/Day Off. (Paris) Layne and I off to Paris by train. Went up the "Eiffel Tower" round sunset (what sun...?) then off to "The Buddha Bar" for dinner. 5 November Antwerpen/Day Off. (Paris/Antwerp) Layne + I off to check out "Notre Dame." Walk to "La Coupole" for lunch via the "Luxembourg Gardens" then a quick squiz at the "Arc de Triumphe" before getting the train back to Antwerp. JF + Kerry back from Brugges. TF, JS, GB, Nathan & Keno off to see David Bowie concert at the Sportpaleis. 6 November Antwerpen/Sportpaleis 13. Layne depart for Hawaii at 6:am today... TF + I did some phone interviews today. Doing a bunch over the course of the next week or so for the release of "The Years" in Europe. 4 m soundcheck today as the whole show was pulled down for the David Bowie show last night. Excellent gig tonight.GB, JF, JS + I off to the VIP tent... Got up and jammed again w/ the Toto's. Great fun. Back to the Hotel Bar and then some, including me, out to a club till late. 7 November Antwerpen/Sportpaleis 14. Played well but the sound apparently crap... Also, played my "N.T.U.A." sax solo really well and got great applause. Thing is, it wasn't working and I didn't know as our "in-ears" block the outside sound... Pretty funny actually but "heads rolled" as a result of tonight's stuff ups... GB, JS and I off to the "VIP tent" for a few drinks then back to the Hotel bar for a bit. 8 November Antwerpen/Sportpaleis 15. Soundcheck to sort out the "front of house" sound, "in-ear" sound and check my sax is working... turned out it was a bad batch of batteries and so the wireless didn't work... Show pretty good. Decided to structure the "jam sessions" in the "VIP tent" a little bit. So, tonight, INXS (minus TF) up first and did "New Sens." and "N.Y.T." before the "Toto's" + "En Vogues" started joining in. Did a couple of Stevie Wonder songs that went off into various other incarnations... Great fun and "went off..." 9 November Antwerpen/Sportpaleis 16. Everyone a bit quiet today... . Early seated show. JS got them all standing pretty well straight away. A team of people did closed captions on the screens for a group of 500 hearing impaired people at the show. Pretty interesting watching them interpret Steve Lukather's ("Luke" - Toto) guitar solo's... Some a few drinks at the bar and then bed. 10 November Antwerpen/Sportpaleis 17 I went and saw Down With Love at the movies... Pretty cute. Off to the gig and the INXS change room has become the place to hang... Might have to employ a couple of security dudes at the door and start up a "Guest List..." Gets pretty crowded... Yet another good show. Getting used to the short, 20 minute show... So, the "VIP tent" again... This time joined by TF for the 2 INXS songs, 'Guns In The Sky" and 'Disappear'. Then the "Toto's" and "En Vogue's" up... Did the Stevie songs 'Higher Ground' + 'Superstition' and then a version of 'Heard It Through The Grapevine'. Good fun but the other night had a better vibe... 11 November Antwerpen/Sportpaleis 18. All signed the 200 posters for the "EA Rugby World Cup" game competition. Corporate Sponsor night and an early show so off to the gig @ 6:45pm, and a gooden tonight. All the artists out to Carl's (the shows MC) favourite restaurant called "Machiavelli" after the show... Great fun and food... I proposed many toast's that night and one in regards to the fact that we had had about 5 courses and still no pasta... so is it indeed an Italian restaurant or not...? So, the chef brought out the largest plate of pasta I have ever seen for me personally... Very funny... 12 November Antwerpen/Day Off. Nathan over to my room to get some photos of "Kirk's Kitchen." TF, JS, Lindz, Nathan, Keno and I, all out to dinner to "De Vaalk" for BBQ hot tile dinner. Last night off in Antwerp... 13 November Antwerpen/Sportpaleis 19. Oh goodie, my favourite... off to the laundromat. JF and I more phoners re "The Years" release. TF over to "Kirk's kitchen" for stir fryish lunch thing. Off to the giggle... Played really well except my belt came undone in "New Sens." and the weight of the wireless "in-ear" pack started pulling my belt off and sliding down my butt... Had to stand really still until I could find a place in the song that I could stop playing and pull it off... Off to the Hotel bar as usual, and recently, sing-a-long's have been happening around the piano... Tonight, Ricky (Toto drummer) brought a little drum kit down and set up next to the piano (which is actually more in the lobby, than the bar...) 14 November Antwerpen/Sportpaleis 20. Went to the "Museum of Torture" today. Pretty funny in a sick kind of way or is that, pretty sick in a funny kind of way... I cooked apple pork and salad for dinner. Off to the gig. Starting to plan pranks and stuff for the last Antwerp show... Pretty good show. Most home and straight to bed. 15 November Antwerpen/Sportpaleis 20. 10:am, Nathan, JS, TF, GB and I down to the bar to watch Australia versus New Zealand World Cup Rugby game on TV... We won... JS a bit quiet...!! Then GB, TF, Nathan, Shealagh (friend) and I out to lunch with Carl (the Proms MC) to "Sir Anthony Van Dijk" restaurant near the "Kathedraal." Fantastico... Did a bit of Christmas shoping... Where has this year gone..? Off to the giggle and a pretty good one. All over to the VIP tent and the usual up for 4 songs (no JF or TF). Good fun tonight. Last "jam" in the Antwerp "VIP tent." Back to the Hotel lobby bar till v. late... 16 November Antwerpen/Sportpaleis 22 - Last Show in Antwerp. Quick meeting @ 12:30pm to discuss tonight's pranks and antics... Most spend the arvo packing, etc Early seated show. Pretty good performance and lots of fun... GB got completely dragged up and went on stage during 'Roseanna' in Toto's set... Very funny and renamed GB, "Gaz-Anna." For the finale, instead of running on from side stage, we planned that INXS would come up on JF's hydraulic drum riser, but Carl got us a beaut by getting the operators to pretend it wasn't working... Really funny as it eventually came part the way up and we had to climb out of the hole, and on to the stage... Very "Spinal Tap..." 17 November Antwerpen/Rotterdam. All finish packing and checkout to depart @ 2 m by vans to Rotterdam and into our next home. All the other artists and crew staying @ a different Hotel. JS, Keno, Nathan and I out to Tepanyaki near the Hotel and later JF and Kerry joined. Then up to check out the other Hotel for a drink but no one around... so headed back and ran into the En Vogue girls and Luke (Toto). So over the road to the "halfway" bar called Harvey's. I went for a wander and found pool tables, so a couple of games then off to bed round 10:30pm. Decided that as Harvey's is "halfway" between our two Hotels, we will make this the official after show bar... |

3 September Layne and I off to a book launch as Layne speaking and launching the launch... Funny book called "Anything You Can Do I Can Do Better..." 8 September Syd/LA Today I flew to LA to meet up with Layne for a week and meet with "Warner Strategic", the label that now look after our North American record back catalogue. 9 September Davo + AF flew in from NYC after going to our lawyer's daughter's "bat-mitzvah." Off to the meeting with Warner Strategic.... Went really well and are open to all sorts of ideas.... Layne and I (+ some friends of Layne's) off to the "Annual Surfer Magazine Readers Poll Awards" night.... Arrived home from LA and I took April P dress shopping for her first formal/prom.... 16 September I had a progress meeting with Andy Clockwise and his potential manager today. Also, I had a progress meeting and a bowl of soup with Hughie in the evening. 17 September TF family moved out of there home of the last 16 years, in to a little rented place whilst they keep looking for a new place. So, TF's studio dismantled and he will be twiddling his thumbs for awhile... 19 September I attended April's School Rock Concert.... AP's first ever drumming performance..!! She played 4 songs with one of the bands and percussion in one song.... Oh it does run in the family.... 22 September Meet with Beck at the office to run through a rough timeline for the INXS movie. In the evening, I attended a "Kangaroo Valley Art Group" exhibition that I was asked to open.... I hate public speaking...... so that's why I did it. They loved me..!!? 23 September Filmed some band grabs at the office for the Nokia web site, for the INXS ringtone and wallpaper downloads... TF + JF fly to Albury to do press tomorrow for the 13th December, Dean Jones leukaemia charity walk (from Sydney to Melbourne) outdoor concert extravaganza... 26 September Went to James Farriss's (TF's oldest son) 21st birthday party.... Great fun, but I had to leave early to take Layne to the airport to fly to France for her next "WCT" surfing event. 1 October Some of the band including me, doing press phoners this week to Belgium and Holland for the upcoming "Night of the Proms" concerts. 8 October "Clubhouse" @ The Empire Hotel Darling Harbour. Soundcheck in the arvo... This is the opening night for the "Clubhouse" TV show and opening week of the "World Cup Rugby." Great show and lots of well-knowns. JS and I did some interviews including a big piece for the morning show, "Sunrise." Big Party at Iguana Bar for JS's birthday. 9 October A barrage of stuff in the press started in Australia today (and for the next week or so) surrounding JS leaving the band... don't believe everything you read or hear..!! Layne came 2nd in the Roxy Pro in France... 10 October "World Cup Rugby" opening/Homebush. No soundcheck today. Outdoor set up like at the Harley Davidson gig outside the Stadium. Tough show is on at 4 m in the arvo and took a while for the audience to gather... Really packed and big eventually. No-one stayed to watch the game as heading to Europe for "The Proms" for 2 months tomorrow. 11 October Sydney/>>>> So, finish packing and all rendezvous at the airport (except AF as not coming) for a late evening flight. 12 October >>>Singapore/London/Brussels/Antwerp Finally arrived at our new home (hotel) for the next 5 or so weeks... I completely unpacked and put things in drawers.. never normally in any place long enough to do that! 13 October Antwerp/Rehearsal (no orchestra) Off to rehearsal place in the evening to have a gear + "in-ear" check and arrangement run through... Ran through everything twice. Pretty weird as all using the "in-ear" monitors and all the band equipment is off stage. Okay for me as I've been using them for awhile now. 14 October Antwerp/Sportpaleis - Rehearsal with the Orchestra Ran through twice. Sounds great with the orchestra. Everyone still struggling a bit with the "in-ears". Band press photos in the evening and a bunch of mixed media interviews for JS and I after. 15 October Antwerp/Day Off. I went and bought an electric cooking item and set up Kirk's Kitchen in the Hotel room today... Big promoters dinner at "Milano's" restaurant with all the artists (Toto, INXS, En Vogue, Xuefei Yang, Ilse Delange, Galileo) and key people. Really fun/funny night... 16 October Antwerp/Sportpaleis - Dress Rehearsals In-ear soundcheck in the arvo. Full run through in the evening. Went okay. We are doing Mystify, New Sensation, Suicide Blonde, Never Tear Us Apart and Need You Tonight. 17 October Antwerp/Sportpaleis 1. Opening Night. In-ear soundcheck in the arvo. Also worked on the finale song, 'Hey Jude' (dude). Show went well but very long... Not your average orchestra audience. Went nuts. Quite a few TV interviews after the show for JS and I. 18 October Antwerp/Sportpaleis 2. Pretty good show... I went to JF and Kerry's room 'til late with some friends. 19 October Antwerp/Sportpaleis 3. Matinee show today so almost straight out of bed and on stage... Some of the band out to dinner with some of the Toto's. 20 October Antwerp/Day Off. I had a bed day... Nathan arrived to assume tour manager when Davo goes home. 21 October Antwerp/Day Off. I tried to to do laundry twice today but the laundromat is the Antwerp "Hot-Spot"... Some of the band out to dinner with Luke Toto (and others) as his birthday today... 22 October Antwerp/Day Off. JF rehearse with Toto all day as Simon, their drummer, is in hospital. JF doing their next 4 shows. I finally got into the laundromat... Some of the band out to the "Old Town" for dinner. I think the natives are starting get suspicious of the smells eminating from my Hotel room... "Kirk's Kitchen" is going off!!!! |

1 July KP and Layne off to the ABC sports show called The Fat as she is on the panel tonight. Pretty funny show. Good Green Room. 2 July KP + Layne out to dinner with Layne's manager Chris White. 4 July MY BIRTHDAY...... Had a great day. Had a meeting with Andy Clockwise and then a meeting with Hughie regarding their careers, etc... Went out to lunch. Drank beer on Manly Beach with friends and watched the surfers (+Layne) and the sunset. Out to dinner with friends to the best Indian restaurant in Sydney.... Collapse in bed... p.s. thanks to everyone who sent cards, emails, gifts, etc.... you're the best. 6 July INXS fly to Europe via Japan???? Stopped over night at a Narita airport Hotel. Hotel had a BBQ area outside so most of the band and crew had dinner with a couple of beers together. Aahh... these are the days. 7 July Mostly travel and stopovers until we finally got to the Madrid Hotel at about 11 m. 8 July Madrid - La Riviera. The acoustic team off to a radio station for 3 songs + interview. Actually did a sound check today. Great show and some went to the Hard Rock next to the Hotel for a couple of "bevies" after the show. 9 July Travel to Oporto in Portugal today. KP, TF, AF + JS out to some swish seafood restaurant with some of the crew and the infamous Nathaniel. The EURO sure hasn't helped the cost of living in Europe... 10 July Oporto - Dunas de S. Jacinto. Never did quite get the name of this outdoor festival... First year of running too but great set up.... So, INXS headline and pretty good show. Tough audience though but had them going nuts by half time... Back in the vans after the show and a one and a half hour drive back to the Hotel. 11 July Travel to Amsterdam for the night, stopover in Charles de Gaulle airport. KP, TF, GB and friend from the UK, Simon out to an Indonesian for dinner. All got had an uncontrollable laughing fit because of the waitresses accent.... 12 July Weert - Bospop Festival. Checkout and on the bus and drive 3 hours to Weert. Met the guys from The Proms which we are looking at doing later in the year in Belgium and Holland. Our old mates Simple Minds on the bill as well tonight. Played a really good show then a bit of the meet and greet stuff and on the bus and drive to Maastricht for the night. 13 July Merzig - Stadthalle. On the bus in the arvo and a 3.5 hour drive to the gig. Played well then on the bus and a 500km drive to Munich... Arrived at the Hotel round 4:30am... 14 July Munich - Muffathalle. Acoustic Team off to do TV, radio, print, photos, etc. Nice weather. Great show and really enthusiastic audience. Meet and stuff, then some to the Hotel bar with a hip funk band playing... 15 July Tuttligen - Rundzelt aufder Ruinehonberg On the bus to Stuttgart and to the Hotel we stay in until we depart home. Back on the bus a few hours later and off to Tuttlingen. Great crowd and some of our U.S fans showed up. Meet and greet then on the bus and 2 hour drive back to the Stutt' Hotel. 16 July Zurich - Volkshaus. Fairly big drive to Zurich so decided to get a Hotel there just for tonight. Weird day... supposed hottest day this summer in Germany maybe ever... then we rounded a corner and all of a sudden there was snow on some of the fields and on the side of the road... weird!! Pretty good show except KP's sax effects blew up... An old friend of the band, René, who worked for our record company in the earlier years showed up with his family... Great to see him/them. 17 July Stuttgart - Dinkelacker Musikarena. Drive back from Zurich. The second festival of the tour held in a big top tent. Last one for the tour and all had a fun show. All, including our crew and the U.S. contingency back to our Hotel bar till late... 18 July Travel day..;. Bus to Frankfurt then fly>>>>> 19 July>>>Singapore>>>>> 20 July >>>Sydney.... Jees we live a long way away.... KP picked up by Layne, home for 3 hours then KP drop Layne at the airport to fly to South Africa... 25 July Band meeting. 27 July Layne back from Sth. Africa. 28 July Band Meeting. Have said yes to The Proms in Europe October/November. ABC Australian Story on Layne on tonight... turned out really good... 31 July KP, Layne + friends off to the Matchbox 20 show at the Entertainment Centre. Met the guys and had a good chat before the show. Watched about an hour then off to Andy Clockwise gig at a little hot, sweaty pub. Lots of Industry people there and 2JJJ playing 'Every Song' on high rotation now... 6 August All band to Pioneer Studio in Sydney to film some interview footage with Phil Deamer, reflecting on the Wembley Stadium Live Baby Live show. The EA guys there to show us the World Cup Rugby Playstation 2 game which features 'I Get Up'. Pretty cool. JF held an evening BBQ at his place for the band and crew.... Bit short notice, but most there and had a great fun night.... He sure gives good BBQ... On ya Jon... 7 August The Electronic Arts worldwide launch of the World Cup Rugby Game at Fox Studios... Excellent show. Phil Deamer filming, but mainly film 'I Get Up' which we played twice. Really fun night. Party in a private room till.... 8 August KP had a meeting at BMG in regards to Andy Clock + Hughie... Really keen on Andy... 10 August Jon Farriss's Birthday. JF and Kerry up at the Hunter Valley wine region for a few days for his birthday.... They went on a real live "choo-choo" train.... (JF's always wanted to do that...) 12 August Layne and I off to Keiren Perkins birthday party. Oz sporting legends Wayne Gardener, Adam Watt, Joanna Griggs, Guy Leech etc there. Fun night. 13 August Layne + I out to dinner with JF, Kerry and friends for belated JF birthday. 14 August Today I put together "liner notes" for the DVD "10 From The Years" to be included in the international release of "The Years" in Oct/Nov. AF, JS + I (and Layne) off to the Basement to do an acoustic set for the Nordorf Robbins charity put together by old mate, Jen Morris. Place went off..!! I didn't get a guitar that worked until the 3rd song... yish..!! Told AF we should have done a soundcheck. Got home about 12:30am... 15 August Sydney/Singapore Up at the unGodly hour of 5:am and off to the airport for the "acoustic team" to fly to Singapore for press and acoustic performances... Did channel V + MTV at the Hotel then off to do radio... Rest of the guys arrive in the early evening and some out to the outdoor food market for beer and satay sticks. 16 August Singapore. "Live and Loud Festival" (INXS, Howard Jones, Shakatak). TF's birthday. Midday soundcheck.... weather looking dodgy. All out to TF's b'day dinner @ Indochine. Great food as usual. Pouring with rain... Oh-oh... Back to the Hotel... Rain stopped. So off to the gig.... Watched the rest of Howard Jones set then on we go. Couple of songs and started pouring w rain.... Poured the whole set... Front line guys got totally soaked along with the instruments and the great audience. All off to club called "Zook" for awhile... 17 August Singapore/Sydney. Some on the 8:am flight rest on the evening overnight flight. 22 August Whole band (except JS, as he wasn't there) off to JF's to record a live commentary from us, whilst watching "Live Baby Live" for the Band instigated proper 5:1 re-release of the DVD.. Pretty funny as all paying out on each other... Poor MH, not there to defend himself... Don't know if any of it will be useable but it was fun. JS, Layne and I off to Dean Jones leukaemia walk launch dinner/auction @ the Four Seasons Hotel. Fun night and lots of well-knowns there... 26 August Layne and I out to dinner with TF + Buff + friends. |

3 May KP + Layne fly home to Sydney. 5 May Band Meeting to discus new album, budget, when, where, etc... 6 May MANGROVE STUDIO Load in/set up day. 7 May MANGROVE STUDIO Start putting takes of 'I Get Up' down by about 4 m. Sounds big... Edited a corker together from a couple of different takes. 8 May MANGROVE STUDIO Finish KP guitar then percussion from JF, keys from AF, and backing vox from combinations of KP, JF + JS. More KP guitar then onto JS vocals for the rest of the day... 9 May MANGROVE STUDIO Sorting out all the overdubs and ideas today. AF try another guitar part and TF finish his parts off. 10 May MANGROVE STUDIO Mixing of 'I Get Up'. 11 May MANGROVE STUDIO Fine tune mix. Done like a dogs dinner... 12 May BBQ lunch meeting at JF's house with Brendan, Martin + Chris re INXS movie, book, etc... Threw round lots of ideas. 17 May KP, JS, AF (the acoustic team) + Davo fly to Singapore to do press + press conference for the first ever World Peace Music Awards to be held in Bali on the 14 June. 18 May Did a half hour acoustic performance in the evening in front of 500 invite only people outside the IndoChine restaurant. Great fun. Bit of a party afterwards and some press there. 19th May Press conference for the W.P.M.A. show along with Miles Copeland, Matt Taylor and Takao. Went well but press harboured on S.A.R.S. and Security issues... Performed 2 acoustic songs to the press. Did a bunch of interviews then off to the airport late arvo and fly back to Sydney. 20 May MANGROVE STUDIO. The acoustic team arrive back in Sydney. AF + JS up to Mangrove Studios today to remix 'I Get Up'. Much better mix and everyone happy now... 22 May Did a show for SAP Computers in the evening. Sound check, etc, in the arvo. Great show and performed the new version of 'I Get Up'. 23 May Newcastle Club Nova (Panthers) No sound check so all up to Newy in the early evening. Sold out and great fun. Home after the show.... 24th May Shell Harbour Workers Club KP off to Cancer Council Charity auction/event during the day, in which KP organised a framed, signed INXS poster and a framed, signed rashy-vest from Layne which both fetched about 0- each.... Fun day. Off to Shell Harbour early evening and another great sold out show along with a large meet and greet again after. Ran into some people that KP, TF and GB went to school with. What a blast..!! 25 May Wyong Leagues Club Same again.... Up in the evening and sold out. Bloody loud on stage tonight... Meet and greet then back to Sydney.... Phew, what a gruelling tour that was.... 26 May Layne back from Tahiti... Hibernation time.... 1 June KP to Laynes house for a family BBQ to be filmed by ABC's Australian Story for an episode on Layne, due to be aired on the 31 July. They have been filming on and off all year since the Roxy Pro contest in early March 2003.... 3 June KP + AF to the office in the morning to film a congratulatory piece for Susie Maroney for her This is Your Life tribute next week. Also did a piece for a pilot show on 'Australian Pub Rock' which could be fun. KP to The Coachouse (KP's studio) to remix another Andy Clockwise single called 'Every Song'. Added a brass section and a Stranglers-style harpsichord track to it. Mixed it and home to bed. 4 June Pack and INXS off to Denmark. 5 June Arrive in Denmark. 'Nathan the magnificent' over from the UK to help out.. Whole band and crew off to a Welsh Pub in Copenhagen, to a welcoming party put on by the Australian Consulate... Great fun but too much beer... 6 June Tivoli Gardens Copenhagen Sound check, etc. Great show. Over 30,000 people. Big meet and greet after as all the Oz Consul people and friends there. Also Helena Christensen and her Dad and friends came to the show. Great to catch up. Hughie on ABC TV The Fat tonight. 7 June Skive Beach Party Festival Bit of a drive today and check out of the Hotel. Keith Naisbitt, the band's agent over for the show. Level 42 on the bill as well and hung around to watch our show... Great show except had a power blackout during 'New Sensation' and took a while for it to be rectified... 8 June Aalborg Club 'Viking Juice Night' for INXS.com A club gig... JS wore sunglasses + a patch during the show as had really bad conjunctivitis... Nearly had to call the show off. Great, loud, show and crowd. Meet and greet contest winners and fans after but cut short as a 5 hour drive to the airport Hilton Hotel Copenhagen. Bizarre Hotel as had a full on disco going off in the lobby of the Hotel.... Very surreal. 9 June Start the epic journey to Bali. 10 June Stopover at the Narita (Japan) airport Nikko Hotel for the day and night. 11 June Continue the journey and eventually arrive at the InterContinental Hotel at Jimberan, Bali, round 9pm. 12 June What a place... Bland Meeting. What a place. 10pm World Peace Music Awards Cocktail Party in the Hotel for all artists and related people.... Could have sworn we weren't in Mexico but plenty of Margaritas flying round the place... 13 June Press day + out to the venue for rehearsals in the evening.... What a place. Like being at the pyramids or something... Giant limestone walls lit up with coloured lights... Of course everything running way behind but eventually ran through a bunch of songs then back to the Hotel. 14 June World Peace Music Awards show Bali JF up early for sound check as playing drums with the Japanese act, Love Psychedelico'. More press today for KP, AF + JS. Off to the gig round 7:30pm. Met and hung out with a bunch of the surviving Bali Bomb victims before our performance.... JF played really well with Love Psychedelico'. They were great. INXS on stage for 3 songs for the televise-ment then another 7 songs after the Life Peace award was given to Gloria Gaynor. Great show except KP's amplifiers blew up in the 3rd song during the televising ('Need You Tonight') and was unable to get it up and running properly for the rest of the gig.... Bummed man.... Huge meet and greet after...!!! Then a party back at pool side at the InterContinental till daylight... 15 June Fly home to Sydney on a 11:30pm flight. 16th June Arrive in Sydney mid morning.... JF stay in Bali a few more days. 18 June KP + Layne off to the Mirrabella cook book launch as KP has a recipe/photo in the book in which all proceeds go to help children whose parents have died of drug overdoses. Lots of other well known Oz musos there that also contributed to the book. Great night and great cause... INXS old manager, Chris Murphy there as well. 21 June Davo's birthday. 22 June GB's birthday. KP off to the Gold Coast with Layne for a four nights. 26 June KP + Layne and other friends off to Gaelic Club for Andy Clockwise (KP remixed version) 'Every Song' single launch. Good show and quite a few Industry people there. |

Kirk's Journal - Feb to April 2003
19 February AF, TF + KP off to the airport to fly to Chile in the AM and met up with JF at the Auckland stopover (Davo, GB + JS flew yesterday via an LA stopover)... Somehow JF bumped up to 1st class...?? Landed in Santiago round the same time on the same day, and met by mystery people that whisked us off to a room for a TV interview on the customs side of the airport. Got ushered through and out into a swarm of TV cameras and photographers all jostling through the crowd and eventually into two mini vans and off to the hotel. Relax for the arvo, some sleep then all out to dinner with Universal Records to the Japanese restaurant in the Hotel. 20 February Press Day for JS, KP, TF + AF. JS first time to Chile. Whole Band do a meet and greet with thirty or so Chilean fan club members in the hotel and then did a live cross acoustic performance of 'Mystify' with the fan clubbers singing as well... Great fun. Dinner with the manager of the hotel. He and his wife are Australians. 21 February Off to Vina Del Mar for the festival today. Hour and a half sound check then the "acoustic team" (JS, KP + AF) off to do a press conference + live and pre-record TV interviews, with acoustic performances. Dinner at the hotel's O'Higgin's (festival central...). Great show and eventually goes out to over a hundred countries round the world. Got given an award before the encore voted by the audience of the festival as the best act of the festival.... JS, KP + AF straight into a press conference after the show then onto the bus for the 2 hour drive back to Santiago. 22 February Acoustic team off to do an extensive live interview and acoustic performance at a Rock & Pop radio station with a dozen fans in the room as well. Ended up doing about 6 songs as they wouldn't let us go... Then off to a TV station to be a surprise for the house mates of Chile's version of Big Brother. They hid us in a small theatre type room adjoining the kitchen and when they all returned from the swimming pool we started playing 'Need You Tonight' and they all came running in screaming etc... The house mates had not seen any other humans for almost 2 months, so some were a bit emotional. Chatted with the house mates with an interpreter, and and played another couple of songs. Did autographs and then said good bye. Great fun. Back to the Hotel, pack and off to the airport to commence the journey home. 24 February Arrived back in Sydney. Three hours later TF, KP and April (KP daughter) fly to Adelaide for the scattering of KP's Dad's ashes tomorrow with family and close friends. 26 February KP over to view the first cut of the video for Hughie's 'Slap That Ass' (shot the weekend of the 8 & 9 Feb). Looks great but start on some changes today and over the next week, Max Jacobsen-Gonzales (the director) will clean it up ready for mastering. KP out to see Andy Clockwise at the Lansdowne Hotel in Sydney. Great performance and great talent. Hopefully going to do some production with him. 3 March KP up to Coolangatta for a week to spend time with Layne (Beachley) while she competes in the 'Roxy Pro' which is the first event on the ASP (Association of Surfing Professionals) World Tour Calendar. This is the first of 6 events contested for the women's crown. 4 March Band Meeting (minus KP as in Coolangatta) to discuss the forthcoming album recording. 9 March Layne won the Women's Roxy Pro event today. One down, five to go... 11 March KP back to Sydney today. 12 March Band meeting to discuss album recording further and lock in a schedule. 14 March Dr. Teo Foundation Cure For Life Charity Ball. Sound check in the arvo. Did a full band, half hour acoustic set... Went off..!! JS + AF have been working on some new songs over the past couple of weeks. 15 March Harley Davidson 100 Year Anniversary Show. (Rynsaardt, Junkatique + Killing Heidi). Early sound check out at the Olympic Park Showgrounds. Did an hour and forty minute set. Good crowd and went over well. Fairly big meet and greet after, then home to bed... 17 March KP had a meeting with Andy Clockwise. Bit of interest in the track 'Song For The Unemployed' at the JJJ Radio camp, so KP is going to remix it for a potential single release. 18 March KP over to Max's (director of 'Slap' video) to work out a way of tieing in the scenes with Felix (the kid) and the audition sequences. KP came up with the idea of them in a kitchen listening to a radio and then heading off out of the house for the auditions. 21 March KP, JS + AF meet at 11am soundcheck for acoustic performance at Layne's Foundation (Aim For The Stars) Launch. Did 6 songs including 'Guns In The Sky' (apt considering the war in Iraq...). Went over really well and the day was a huge success for the Foundation. One chap paid AU,000 for one of Layne's surfboards signed. KP + Layne fly to Adelaide. 22 March The rest of the band fly to Adelaide for the Clipsal 500 V8 Supercar events. All down to the track in the mid arvo to have a test run around the track in the Ford Focus cars we are racing in tomorrow (against each other). Pretty funny as they have made up shirts + helmuts with our names on them, as well as the cars... Went and Mark Nolte, who's Ford team INXS have become involved with sponsoring. 23 March Race Day + Show Day Down to the event in the morning, briefed, and then start our engines and on to the track. Some of us with manual transmission, some with auto... Off and 2 laps of racing... Jon Stevens came first, Tim is still arguing who came second between him and brother Jon and of course KP last by a long shot... better safe then never... Back to the hotel after press and meet and greet stuff. Off to the gig in the late arvo. Diesel on before INXS. Huge outdoor crowd and went fully off mate. Great show. KP brother Drew and other assorted relatives at the show. All had a ball. 24 March Fly back to Sydney. Oscars night. 25 March KP + Hughie to a house in Lindfield for the opening scene re-shoot for 'Slap that Ass' video. 26 March KP + Layne went to Bertie's single launch at the Civic Hotel. Wentwell. She's gonna be a star. 27 March Off to see Andy Clockwise gig at the Annandale Pub. Didn't have his keyboard player but still excellent. Firmed up getting the music parts from him to remix 'Song for The Unemployed'. 28 March Over to Max's (Slap director) to finish off the new edits for the 'Slap' video. Looks good. 29 March KP round to 13's to transfer the Andy Clockwise song parts into a useable format for the Coachouse Studio. 31 March Band Meeting. KP off to the Coachouse to set up Andy's 'Song For The Unemployed'. All works okay. 1 April Band Meeting. KP off to the Coachouse to work on Andy's 'Song For The Unemployed'. Andy round in the latter arvo and got him to redo bass and do an electric guitar part. Jack was great. 14 April KP + Layne up fly to the Tweed Heads, Twin Towns Casino Resort. 15 April Rest of the band fly to Tweed Heads. Band dinner meeting with David Nicholas (producer) regarding the plan for the new recordings. 16 April Midday band rehersals in the venue (the Casino Showroom) along with David Nicholas. Worked up a new AF/JS song called 'I Get Up'. Sounds good and will play it tonight. KP trying out 'in-ear monitors' from tonight on. Good show and sold out. Big meet and greet. 17 April 2nd Casino Show. Bit of a rehersal in the arvo to reherse 'Stairs', 'Heaven Sent' and 'I Get Up' for tonight's show. Much better show tonight. Party in the Resort Bar... Matty's (JF's drum tech) last show tonight as opening up a pizza restaurant in Alice Springs with his wife. 18 April All fly home except JS + AF as they drove up. 23 April KP to ABC TV new studios at Ultimo for Hughie's sound check. ABC doing a test of the new facility with another local band, in the style of the show Room 222? with a live audience. The two acts play about 5 or 6 songs. Several run throughs of a couple of songs then KP up to the booth to check on the sound... Back later on for the show with April. Went well. 25 April KP fly to Fiji and on to Tavarua Island with Layne for the second of the women's event on the ASP (Association of Surfing Professionals) World Tour Calendar. Beee-eautiful place. 27 April KP went surfing out the front of the resort at Kiddies Corner... and got up several times... The main surf break is Restaurants so KP successfully renamed Kid C. Cafes...!! 28 April Layne lost today... |

6 March Syd/Burleigh Heads. Run around today after dropping April at a photo shoot. Fly up to the Gold Coast in the late arvo. Layne pick me up and off to the Burleigh Heads apartment. Sunset glass of rose then Oskars restaurant for dinner. Watch a bit of the Oscars then bed. 7 March Burleigh Heads. The Roxy Pro WCT contest on @ D'Bah today so up @ 6:am, quickly get ready and off we go. Round 3 today and Layne through to the Quarter Finals. Off to Serena Brooks for a BBQ party with all the WCT girls & a few guys... Fun nite. 8 March Burleigh Heads. Head down to Cabaritta for the Surfing Australia "Hall of Fame Awards" in which Layne is being inducted this year. (now we are both in our respective profession's H.O.Fs). Good fun. We were going to stay the night but opted to drive back to Burleigh. 9 March Burleigh Heads. The final day of the Roxy Pro on today as well as some of the Men's Quicksilver Pro so up early and off to D'Bah again. Layne through to the final but got beaten by Mel Redman Carr... Great start to the year... Back to Burleigh for champagne and start packing. Off to the Roxy Pro after party at the proper contest site (not D'Bah). Megan Gayle and her beau, Josh there so hung with them for a while then home to bed... 10 March Burleigh Heads/Syd. Finish packing and off to the airport and Virgin home to Sydney. Down to Curly for the night.... 12 March JD start a 12 day U.S. Radio Station Tour.. Out for brunch with April and her new bf, Nick. Top bloke... Layne's Dad and sister over to Layne's for BBQ dinner. 13-16 March Layne and I off to the Farm. 18 March JF & Kerry got married today. A small intimate family gathering down the coast. 20-24 March Layne and I hired a yacht for 5 days... Just the best... 24 March JD finish the 12 day US Radio Station Tour in Austin Texas. 25 March Layne and I off to see the Manly/Cronulla Footy game at Brooky Oval with some of the other Eagles Angels... Layne's sister Catherine there with some friends and came and hung with us in the box too. Fun nite. Manly won... 27 March Ran April around organising stuff for her overseas trip. Watched Crash. Great movie. 30 March - April Layne and I off to the farm. April and Nick down for a couple of nights as well. 2nd April JD, GB + Martha to New Zealand for press and to announce the Tour. 4 April Off to the Sony/BMG conference in the late arvo as one of the surprise guests... (TF meant to go but supposedly got his days mixed up...) Did a Q&A with one of the Sony dudes and pre-announced the tour to them. Home then Layne and I out to the "AJC (horse Racing) Autumn Carnival launch" (envelope) @ The Victoria Room. Good fun & lotsa photos... 5 April JD, GB & Martha fly in to Sydney from New Zealand. 6 April Sydney Press Day. Start the week or so of Australian Press today. First up some phoners for all but GB & JF. Acoustic Team meet after lunch at the Sheraton on the Park Hotel to acoustic rehearse then to 2MMM for acoustic thing & 2 x interviews taping + stacks of I.Ds. Did 'Need You Tonight', 'Pretty Vegas', 'Mystify' + 'Afterglow'. 7 April Sydney Press Day. Wendi Sue and Melodye (B.Vs) arrive. Off to gym, lunch then to the Sheraton on the Park Hotel for 4hours of TV, & Print interviews and photos for the whole band... 8 April Rehearsals Hordern Pavillion. Ran through the set then put together the Music Max Set (well KP did...). Finish @ 6pm. 9 April Syd/Gold Coast. 11am all fly to Brisvegas then drive to the Goldy & the Sofitel Hotel. 5:30pm Band Meeting w Martha + Keith. 8pm off to sound check at Dreamworld for tomorrow morning. Doing 'Devil's Party', 'Afterglow', 'Need You Tonight' & 'Pretty Vegas'. 10 April Dreamworld Sunrise Show. "Thankyou to the Tradies" that did cyclone relief work for Innesvail. Up @ 5:30am and off to Dreamworld. Got to run through each song beforehand. All pretty good. Koshy got up & danced with the girls in 'Pretty Vegas'. Press after, then drive back to Brisy to Sony/BMG for more radio & print press. Lunchtime flight home. Layne & I off to Fox & go see Ice Age 2 at La Premiere. 11 April Sydney Promo Day. All but JF + AF off to Nova for a bunch of different stuff then KP + JD co-host "Video Hits" in the coffee shop outside. All off to 2MMM along with JF + AF to first do a BIG special with Rob Duckworth (no JD). Then JF, KP + JD do another special with Rob Duckworth... Back to the "Shery O T Park" for a break... Acoustic team off to Nova to do 'Afterglow' + 'Don't Change'. Layne, her Dad, Brooke and I off to Telstra Stadium to see the Stones. TF there as well as Steve Waugh's guest speaker at his Foundation function. Stones were great especially the 2nd half of the Show. 12 April Sydney Promo Day. ***April's 18th Birthday*** Off to the ABC for 3 interviews along with JD.. One with James Valentine. All good. Pick up April from the city for a meeting with Chadwick's re April's O.S. trip & Japan contract. Lunch with April (Jon Stevens at the restaurant and had a good chat) then take her to a casting in Surrey Hills. MMM Garage Session @ Selina's. Sound check then tour band meeting with Keith + Martha. Pretty good show and the crowd loved it... MMM meet & greet after + friends, etc. Small party back at my place... 13 April Sydney Promo Day April's 18th Birthday Party. Music Max @ the Opera House/The Footy Show. Off to the Opera House to sound check... 10 song set with interview in the middle. Did 4 songs then an audience Q & A type thing with Chit Chat hosting the do another 6 songs. Nice and relaxed lunch time performance. Great little room and a really fun gig. Bit of a meet & greet after... Layne and I run around getting stuff organised for April's party all arvo... The Footy Show. Off to sound check. Layne, TF, Martha and I off to AP's birthday party for an hour or so... Back to the Footy Show. Had champagne to toast Chrissie, Martha & Keith for a great week of press and everything... So the show... Fatty & Matty came over to introduce us and Fatty hit the machine heads on my guitar putting it completely out of tune... Live Show.... Lindz quick tune me but one string still out... Oh well, on with the show... Drop the car to PP then walk up to the Empire Hotel for Part 2 of April's party. Had drinks in "The Lodge" then went upstairs for a while... Home to bed round 2am. 14 April Late arise round 11am... Run around organising stuff today. April & Nick over to Layne's round 7pm for dinner and stay the night... JD, Martha + the girls departed today. 15 April GB fly to the States today. 16 April Syd/LA/Memphis Depart for USA 2nd Leg of the Tour. Finish packing, etc. Took April out to breakfast in Crowy... Layne take me to the airport. Just AF, JF, Tony + I today. Stopover in LA for 4 hours then off to Memphis. Todd meet us at the airport and off to the Peabody Hotel. Unpack & settle in. Bed round 1am. |

Memphis - Day Off. Woke up round 5am but eventually went back to sleep, on & off till midday. Phoner for JF + I. Eventually out for a walk + supplies & lunch. Quiet rest of the day. Rest of the band + crew arrive this evening. 18th April Memphis - Orpheum Theatre - Rehearsal/Gear Check. Bit better jetlag sleep... Out for a walk, supplies and lunch @ a Mexican near the Hotel. I went down to rehearsals a couple of hours earlier to work on some sounds for the new songs. JD phoner. Bernie (our old monitors guy) is the house PA guy for the Orpheum. Great to see him. The new production guys, Paul & Hugo and I go through the band backstage rider. Quick Band Meeting to decide rehearsal plan of action + what new songs... Run through a couple of songs including 'Elegantly Wasted' then start on 'Hot Girls' for an hour or so. Finish round 10:am... 19th April Memphis - Rehearsal 2. TF, AF + I down early to work out song parts. Rest down an hour later. Rehearsed up 'Hot Girls' + 'God's Top Ten' today. Finish about 7pm. 20th April Memphis - Rehearsal 3. Phoners for TF & I. AF, TF & I down early to work on parts again... Worked out 'Perfect Strangers'. Dinner then ran through the new set. Had to do a Band, pass around the phone to a DJ at WMC radio... Hughie arrive from Nashville today & staying w/ me for 2 nights. Finish then all eventually down Beale St to a bunch of different Bars ending @ B.B. Kings... Got a ride in a cop car to 'Big Foot' bar opposite the Hotel... Fun night 21st April Memphis - Orpheum Theatre. Ouch hangovers... Midday, one by one do wardrobe with Lynne + Jen @ the gig. Soundcheck @ 3pm-ish. I stayed @ the gig, rest back to the Hotel. 3 X M&Gs (meet & greets) tonight... Really great show but need to re-arrange the set. Dirty Blondes opening next few weeks. Back to the Hotel Bar. Hughie stay the night again. 22nd April Nashville - Ryan Auditorium. On the bus..... New driver Ted, for the Todd bus. Off @ 11:30am w/ a food stop. Check in to the Loews Vanderbilt Hotel round 4pm. Hughie and I down to the gig early to go look @ Dobro's in a guitar shop next to the venue w/ Lindz. Soundcheck re-arranged the set. JD & I, a radio interview. 1 X Platinum M&G. Wild audience and excellent show.... Set really worked. Back to the Hotel and most to bed... Hughie off home. 23rd April Cincinnati - Aronoff Centre. On the bus round 10:am and off to the gig as no Hotel. Soundcheck w an audience + 3 X M&Gs today. Also, 4 contest winners 'Hang with JD...' In catering... I hung as well... On the bus and 2 hour drive to the Westin Great Southern Hotel in Columbus. (Roxy Pro Fiji 1st Day. LB won her heat (in the last minutes again) and through to Round 3). 24th April Columbus - Day Off. Everyone take it easy today and bed day for me as not well. Started catching up on my INXS.com diary... 25th April Columbus - Palace Theatre. 8am Lobby call for the Acoustic Team and off to WNCI... On air for a 20 min. chat then DJs put us on the spot as they wanted to play drums & bass with us.... So, let them play on 'Don't Change' (after one run through). Nuts... Yish...!! Went okay... More chat then did 'Afterglow' (w/o the Jock rhythm section...) Back to the Studio for more chat... Back to the Hotel. TF & GB phoners. Out for a walk, breky then back to bed... Sound check. Got the 'Tour Book' today... turned out great.... Pretty good show although I'm still having 'in-ear' (monitors) problems. Bit of a party backstage for a bit, along w/ the 'Dirtie Blondes.' 26th April Louisville (KY) - Palace Theatre. On the road at midday. Continued catching up on the INXS.com diary. Straight to the gig as overnighter tonight, so no Hotel. JF a phoner. Sound check w/ an audience + 2 X M&Gs and another bunch of 'Hang with JD' contest winners... Good show... So cake + champagne for Melodye's b'day... I started a 'congo' round the change room and out into the hallway... On the bus & 14 hr overnighter drive... (April did her first ever Catwalk Show at Oz Fashion Week today (has 4 more). 27th April Atlantic City - Day Off. Arrive at the Sheraton Hotel @ 3:30pm. Unpack, emails, etc. Out for a walk to shops and finally replaced my stolen belt (from Portland on the 1st Leg of the tour). Ran in to some of the crew so all to Applebee's for food & drinks, then Marguerita's. Then Melodye, Wendi-Sue + Jen joined for a couple, then most to their Hotels. (Roxy Pro completed today and same finish as the Goldy... Mel 1st. Layne 2nd...). 28th April Atlantic City - House Of Blues. Yoga. Over to Applebee's for ribs lunch. All but GB + JF 3-4 phoners each advancing the upcoming Canadian gigs. Martha drive in today. Sound check. Back to the Hotel... 2 X M&Gs today. Pretty good show... Lots of girls... The NYC fan clan all at the show tonight. Party in one of the H.O.B. bars w/ the crew & the Dirtie Blondes + NYC friends. Bed about 2am. 29th April Atlantic City - H.O.B. 2 Finally, off to the gym. Applebees (ya gotta love it...) for lunch. No sound check today. KP down early to fix some sounds and get a massage... Did some quick band shots w/ Mark Weiss. Whole band down early to discuss/rearrange the set w/ Martha, Motley + James... Tried it out and not bad. Haven't found the right spot for 'God's Top Ten' though... GB + I straight back to the Hotel... the rest?? 30th April Pittsburgh - Travel/Day Off. Do my yoga tape. Out to lunch to Tun's Brewery. Finish pack, checkout and off on the buses at 3pm... Stop at a truck stop round dinner time. Arrive at the Omni William Penn Hotel round 11 m. 1st May Pittsburgh - Heinz Hall. Woke up pretty early and called Aps + Layne. Gym for a proper workout. Out for a wander and some brunch. 4pm checkout and off to the gig & soundcheck. JD record a bunch of radio liners... Another set re-arrange prompted by James. Pretty good show but the set still not sitting right... On the bus and a 5 hour drive to Washington DC. Check in to the Mandarin Oriental Hotel and bed. 2nd May Washington DC - Constitution Hall. Up around 11am and do the Yoga tape. Off colour today... Lunch in the Hotel restaurant. 2:30pm the Acoustic Team w/ JF as well, off to do an 'Artist Confidential' for XM Radio. 50 people, a host + 4 songs... 'Need You Tonight' 'Afterglow' 'Don't Change' + 'Pretty Vegas'. Broke a string in the begin of 'Need You Tonight' but forged on ahead. Other than that went well. Back to the Hotel except I went w the crew to the gig. James stay back to mix the acoustic. TF & GB a TV interview for 'AP Broadcast' at the venue. 2 X M&Gs. Pretty good show. Dropped 'God's Top Ten' from tonight's set. Back to the Hotel. Some to the Hotel Bar for a bit. 3rd May NYC - Travel/Day Off. Leave a bit later than anticipated. Girls caught the train so emptier bus... Canuck phoner for GB & 2 each for JD & I. Arrive in NYC at 4pm and check in to the Trump Int. Hotel. Set up my room for April's arrival. Wholefoods for supplies. Out to dinner w/ Kendall + Tim to Indian called 'Mint.' Then caught a cab to the airport to meet Aps. Got her luggage before she came out... Off to the Hotel and Aps change & freshen up and off to a big Fashion Industry Party at 'The Park' w/ Tim & Kendall til 1:30am.. Lots of celebs, models, etc... 4th May (NYC) Bridgeport - Arena at Harbour Yard. JD, GB & TF up early to go to VH-1 and interviews for 'Top 20' & 'Urge' then do an MTV radio interview. Up round 9:30am and both April & I eventually to the gym. Get ready and eventually out to brunch @ a diner. Down to 'H & M' to shop for Aps. Then had to head back to the Hotel for Aps to get ready, as One Management couldn't do tomorrow and want to see her today. Race all the way back downtown. Nice small agency... Quick cheap jewellery shop for April then back uptown. Take Aps to Wholefoods for some dinner for her as she's staying in tonight. Mad pack for the gig for me as running late... All on the buses and off to Bridgeport. Crap traffic and saw a car on fire... Phoners for JF & KP... Anyway, excellent show... On the busses and 2 hour drive back to NYC. Bed... I'm still fighting off some bloody schoolyard lurgy going round the camp and now GB fighting it too... 5th May NYC - Radio City Music Hall. Up and off to Aps Agency meetings. Trump then IMG, break for lunch @ American Burger then to Wilhelmina. Great reaction @ Wil... Long meeting so had to put Aps in a cab to a call-back to One Management. Really tired and I fell asleep fully dressed... 6th May NYC>>> Up @ 5:30am to go do the Today Show outside at Rockefeller Plaza. INXS opening their concert season. Did 'Need You Tonight' 'Afterglow' + 'Pretty Vegas'. Back to the Hotel and most to bed. Aps & I get the train to Brooklyn to go to Target... Back on the train & Aps get off early for more shops... me to the Hotel to pack, etc. Band Meeting w/ Keith & Martha re tour... Oz Tour sold out & album gone platinum there. The London show sold out in a day... Discuss Europe, etc. Decided that Melodye & Wendi-Sue now travel on the Tony, AF, GB + JF bus from now on (as were on Todd, TF, JD and my bus up till now)... Early dinner at 'Jean George' w/ our old mate Bill Leibowitz. 7pm on the busses and overnight to Fredericton... 7th May Fredericton - Aitken Centre. Arrived at the Delta Hotel round 10:am. Aps + I to the gym then go the buffet brunch in the hotel... Back to bed for a bit. JF out to the Sabian cymbal factory today. Aps stay in tonight. JD & I down to the gig early for massages. No M&Gs tonight... (a first and only...?). Stabillo start as our opener for the next couple of weeks. Pretty good show. Sabian cymbal people back stage to M&G the band. Back to the Hotel and bed. 8th May Moncton - Coliseum. Me to the gym. Pack then Aps + I brunch. GB, JF & TF phoners. 1pm on the bus and off to Moncton. JD's voice a bit sore. Back to the Hotel except JD as Sandy (Mum) + friend there tonight. 9th May Halifax - Metro Centre. I did yoga. AP + I down for brunch. All on the buses and off we go... Received our US Gold Awards for the RockStar DVD. Arrive at the Westin Hotel round 4pm. All but JF + AF down to the gig @ 6pm for various radio + TV. GB + I did 'Much Music' + local 'CNN'. JD's friend, David Gunning on first tonight then Stabillo. Completely Sold Out show. Audience amazing... So, back to the Hotel & JD organised a room to party w/ his family & friends w/ 00 - of lobster, beer, etc.... All but TF & JF went up... Party went till 4am. 10th May Montreal - Travel/Day Off. Sort luggage for bus vs. flight. Todd + 5 band off on the early flight. A nap for me. April and the rest on the later flight arriving at the Omni Mont-Royal Hotel around 6pm. Aps & I out to dinner to a pub called Sir Winston Churchill. Early night. 11th May Montreal - Bell Centre. Off to the gym. Out for a shop/look around then late lunch at 'Carlos & Pepes' Mexican. Back to the Hotel & get ready. JD & TF do a live Mix 96 radio interview then a Musiqueplus TV interview. JF 2 x phoners. Off to sound check but TF & JD still doing radio stuff. Some back to the Hotel. GB & I had 2 x TV interviews at the venue. Pretty good show. Some to bed/some to the bar... 12th May Ottawa- Scotiabank Place. Yoga. Out for food for Aps but raining so takeaway over the road and back to the Hotel. Late checkout and on the bus straight to the gig. Soundcheck and put 'Perfect Strangers' back in the set. Some Phoners, TV & Radio press for most today... Watched some of the live cameras edit of last nights show and pretty cool. 2 X M&Gs. Great show & crowd. NYC + Hallifax still the best so far... On the bus and 6 hour drive to Toronto and the usual Soho Metropolitan Hotel. Got in about 5am and back to bed (JD & Aps stayed up and partied the whole trip...). 13th May Toronto - Day Off/Press. I awoke fairly early. Aps eventually up round 11am, showered then went back to my bed for awhile... Out to get Aps a bigger luggage bag. Then off to Cora's for late lunch... Back to the room, then accompany sleepy head April to Cora's for food. Big Brit Daily Mail interview w/ JD first, then the whole band from 4-6pm. APs and I out to an average Thai for dinner... 14th May Toronto - Air Canada Centre. Mothers Day. Off to the gym (no Aps though). JF + I haircuts next door to the Hotel & then he did April & Martha's hair for the evening's festivities. Everyone to hair & makeup as 'RockStar 2' crew filming us today for the 1st episode of 'R.S.2.' Sound check, etc. April's last night so toast w/ champagne w/ the band... TV & Radio stuff for all but AF & JF at the gig. 3 X M&Gs!!! On with the show and okay performance from us... Audience fantastic and sold out.. (staying at the Hotel till this evening as midnight flight to Tokyo tonight)... So, check in to the Hilton. As usual, I went down early followed by GB as TV interview. 2 X M&G's. I bumped my guitar tuners whilst coming back on stage before 'New Sensation'. JF started the song whilst Lindz was still tuning it up... whoops... Stabillo's last night so had a bunch of drinks w/ them, then on the buses and drive to the Niagara Fallsview Casino Resort. Check in about 1:30am. (Aps arrived safely in Japan and had to check in to her apartment and do castings the same day...) 17th May Niagara Falls - Day Off. Up and eventually out for a walk to the Falls. Ran in to James + 13 and did the 'Behind the Falls' tour. Then up to Applebees for lunch. Quiet arvo. Dinner in the Casino Chinese w/ AF, TF, Jen, Lindz + friend. Beds... 18th May Niagara Falls (ON) - Avalon Ballroom Fallsview Casino. Off to the gym + sauna. Lunch for one @ Denny's. Phoners for all but AF & JD. Sound check. Had a 'backcrackin'' massage. 2 X M&Gs today... Pretty good show and sold out... Most eventually to the opening of a new Club in the Hotel complex. Really packed and fun... 19th May Cleveland - State Theatre. Border cross and 6 hour drive today. Check in to the Intercontinental Hotel. Down to the gig early for me. Backstage spread out over 8 levels... TF & I a TV WMYX interview. 3 X Meet & Greets. So, gig pretty good. JD wrecked about half a dozen mic stands tonight. Wendi-Sue's b'day so cake & champagne after, then on the buses and off to Chicago and the Park Hyatt hotel arriving @ 2:30am... 21st May Chicago - Day Off. Restful day... Out for supplies... 22nd May Indianapolis - Clowes Memorial Hall. Off to the gym then out for supplies. I did a phoner interview for the MH Memorial Website today. All on the busses to drive to the gig. Really crap traffic + time change meant we arrived when Scott Stapp already on stage/M&G time... 3 X M&Gs... Quick get ready and on stage. Great show and JD bloody excellent tonight... Back on the busses for the 3 hour drive back to Chicago arriving @1:30am. 23rd May Chicago - Rosemont Theatre. All doing half hour video interviews today w/ Gregg (shot rehearsals in Memphis) for a website/fanclub DVD... Also coming on the bus & film stuff at the gig. Some phoners for GB, JD & I today. Off at 5pm and traffic... Usual M&Gs. I wrapped all LB's birthday presents at the gig as it's her birthday 2day in Oz... Some of the guys from 'Lovehammers' turn up + Jessica (RockStar) Robinson & her husband. Pretty good show but toughish crowd... 2-300 fans waiting outside... On the buses and back to the Chicago Hotel. Some to the bar. 24th May Chicago - Day Off. (Layne and my Mum's birthday). Yoga then out shopping and bought LB a special 'blue-box' pressie to finish off the b'day stuff... Relaxo arvo. JD + Martha fly to Omaha to do a Radio Station that got snowed out on JD's March radio tour. Out for takeaway soup dinner then watched 'Princess of Thieves.' Bed round midnight... 25th May Minneapolis - Orpheum Theatre (again)... Off to the gym. Checkout at 1 m and all off to the airport. Plane delayed an hour or so on the tarmac... Bugger... Arrive Minni at 5:15pm and off to the Marquette Hotel (again). I stayed in the van and straight to the gig to go through some tenor sax reeds. Dinner and a quick massage. 2 X M&Gs and JD not at the first one as he and Martha's plane delayed today too, in Omaha... Pretty good show and amazing crowd... Back to the Hotel and AF + I to the bar for a couple... 26th May Winnipeg - MTS Centre. Up and off to a 2 m flight to Winni... Straight to the gig and no Hotel as Overnighter tonight. A bunch of TV interviews for all but AF & JD. I soundchecked my new Variax acoustic today and will use it in 'Afterglow.' 2 X M&Gs. Great show and phenomenal audience. On the buses and overnight to Saska. 27th May Saskatoon - Credit Union Centre. Arrive at 9am and check in to the Delta Hotel. Off to the gym then a complimentary massage in the arvo. Off to the gig at 4:30pm to go through sax reeds again... 1 X M&G... Awesome show and audience... except JD slipped and tore his ACL & possibly Meniscus ligaments in his knee in 'Don't Change...' Off to hospital in huge pain and now has to wear a full leg brace + painkillers... Might have to use a stool... 28th May Calgary - Travel/Day Off. Up and depart round midday... wasted a bunch of time trying to find a Walmart for DVDs... Arrived at the Fairmont Palliser Hotel at 7pm. Most a quiet night. 29th May Calgary - Penngrowth Saddledome. Yoga then out for a walk for Jap lunch and to an MEC store but didn't buy anything. 3:30pm iChat Band Meeting w/ Martha in my room but not enough bandwidth so off to the gig half hour earlier to do it there. Soundcheck as recording the next 4 Canadian dates. Put 'Perfect Strangers' back in the set. Bunch of TV/Radio interviews for all but me (as TV blew out), JD & AF today... JD was meant to sit on a stool all night but hobbled around instead... Great show & crowd. 30th May Edmonton - Rexall Place. Off at midday to the Fairmont MacDonald Hotel. A couple of hours in the Hotel then GB & I down to the show early for a TV interview. 2 X M&Gs. Excellent show & audience... One of the best shows the whole tour thus far... Back to the Hotel. Buses leave at midnight and JD, Tony, Melodye & Wendi-Sue overnight to Vancouver... Rest fly TM. 31st May Vancouver - Travel/Day Off. 2pm flight to Vancouver. Check in to the Westin Grand Hotel. 5pm all (but AF & JD) off to Paul & Catherine Runnals house for a BBQ party along with all the key crew. Keno's b'day. Lots of Paul & Catherine's friends at the BBQ too. Tony, the video director who is shooting a live video of 'Perfect Strangers' tomorrow there too. So discussed the shoot etc, and he ended up driving Keno, JF, Kezza and I back to our Hotels round 9pm... Great fun night... 1st June Vancouver - GM Place. 'Perfect Strangers' Video Shoot. Off to the gym, washing, then out to look at shoes @ John Flugen... Japanese for lunch. Phoner for TF + I. 2pm all off to the Venue to shoot the 'Perfect Strangers' video... Lyn here for the shoot. Hair and makeup. 3:30pm do a bunch of takes to playback including one at 2 times speed... Done... Bunch of TV interviews for GB + I, and one for JF + TF. 2 X M&Gs... Guys filming the show as well as played 'Perfect Strangers' twice (once in the set and once in the encore). I had a shocker of a show but you get that... Audience phenomenal... Bit of a party backstage and eventually hotel... Bar shut... bugger... 2nd June Kelowna - The Bluff Concert Venue (outdoor). 11am depart but delayed as only one elevator working in the Hotel... TF + GB phoners on the bus. Beautiful drive through mountains, etc. Check in to the Maneto Resort round 4:30pm. Tony & I to the gig early. Combined the M&Gs into one tonight. TF & JF a TV interview at the gig. Fantastic show & audience. Last of the recordings and last of the Canadian shows this run... All ate at catering after the show. Back to the Hotel and they kept the bar open so most down to the bar for a bit. 3rd June Seattle - Marymoore Amphitheatre (outdoor). Depart at 10am... Drive took a little longer so went straight to the gig. Beautiful open air gig. Combined the M&Gs into one today. Early show as 10pm curfew. Great show and audience. Cake & champagne for Tone's (security 'Tough-Guy') b'day. Off to the Sorrento Hotel. Everyone but Tony, Todd, TF & I decide to overnight to Portland... Off to the bar w Todd & the b'day boy... 4th June Portland - Travel/Day Off. Off at lunchtime for the stay overs. Check in to the Heathman Hotel round 4pm. Relax then AF, Todd + I out to Jap restaurant w most of the crew for Lindz's b'day. Great food then off to a bar called Tube. Scott Stapp's band join up with us as well as JF & Kerry and all over the road to Dante's for their Sunday night burlesque cabaret show... Great fun and Lindz dragged on stage... Pretty funny. Late night... 5th June Portland - Arlene Schnitzer Concert. Up late out for lunch. The gig next door to the Hotel so I went down early as usual. 1 X M&G... Great show & audience. Off to the bar but closed so, off to Victoria's cafe along w Tony & Todd. JF & Kerry came as well. 6th June Portland - Day Off. LB leave Sydney for LA today... Bed day for me... LB arrive safely and off to Seal Beach for a couple of days.. 7th June Salt Lake City - Delta Centre. A phoner for me. Fly to S.L.C. and off to the Grand America Hotel. All but GB, JF, Kerry, Todd & I do the overnighter to Reno along w/ Jen & Mot... 8th June Reno - Travel Day Off. **LAYNE ARRIVE TODAY** 10am depart for the flight team to Reno. I stayed at the airport to wait the hour & a half for LB's flight to arrive... Most of the guys and crew off to 'Blow & shoot shit up day' organised by Kev. Off to the Reno Hilton Hotel. Down to the pool for a bit of sun and a cocktail. Get ready and out to dinner to an 'olde worlde' French style restaurant called 'Blue Trout.' Back to the Hotel and beds. AF + JD out along w/ Scott Stapp & some of his band to some clubs... 9th June Reno - Hilton Amphitheatre (outdoor) Up and eventually to the gym... hard... TF & KP phoner. Brunch in the Hotel Mexican restaurant... Clothes shop for LB in one of the Hotel shops... Relax rest of the arvo. LB & I to the gig early. Back to the Hotel and bed time for Layne and I... Some down to the Casino till late. 10th June Berkeley - Greek Theatre (outdoor) Depart @ 10:30am and LB's first bus trip. Check in to the usual San Fran Intercontinental Hotel. All in vans to Berkeley to the show. Layne's Mum at the show. Couple of M&Gs. Great show and crowd. Back in the vans and back to the 'Top of the Mark' bar in the Hotel. 11th June Elvirta CA - Gibson Ranch - 'KZZO 'The Zone' presents.' (INXS. Footswitch. Scott Stapp. Marty Casey & the Lovehammers + more bands..??). LB & I to the gym. Lunchtime departure and a 2 hour drive straight to the gig. 'KZZO 'The Zone' presents.' Early show so on stage at 6pm... No lights. Pretty good show. Great Festival type crowd... On the buses and police escort out and off to Fresno Radison Hotel (the crew staying there too). Some to the Hotel Bar. 12th June Fresno - Day Off. Yoga tape. LB & I brunch down in the International Cafe in the Hotel. Then off to the 'Fashion Fair' mall for pedicures and shop for LB. Back to the Hotel and get ready for a Band/Crew dinner (no GB, JD, 13, Todd Burr., Mot., Hugo or Kevin). Great alfresco restaurant called 'The Elbow Room.' Too much food and wine... All back on the bus to the Hotel and some to the bar. 13th June Lemoore CA - Tachi Palace Casino (outdoor) Layne & I to the crap gym for 40 min.s. then Layne to the pool. Late lunch at the Hotel bar. Off to the gig @ 6pm... A 45 min drive. 2 X M&Gs. Good show and a great & loud crowd... On the buses and back to Fresno... 14th June Santa Barbara - Lobero Theatre. Checkout at lunchtime and off to Santa Barbara. JD, GB and I a bunch of phoners today. No hotel so straight to the small theatre... Huge M&G (70) + 2 X small ones. Layne out to dinner w Sam Cornish (WCT Oz surfer) & Sarah. Excellent show + audience. Straight off stage and into the buses and drive to LA. Arrive at the Mondrian round 2am. 15th June LA - Day Off. (Westlake Live Track Mixing 1 - James + 13) Gym for LB + I. Eventually off for late brunch @ Sushuya on Sunset. LB to the pool/me, a nap. Early nachos dinner @ Texas Ranch... All but GB + JD off to the 'J. Ransom' party/fashion parade at their LaBrea store. Lots of people including Ramsell, Trish, Lynne (our RockStar crew), etc. Tattoo guy there and TF had the 'Rock' tattoo over written w stars... Hotel and bed by 11pm... 16th June LA - Greek Theatre. Sleep in a bit. Eventually off to Mexican down the road called 'Cantina' for brunch. LB meet w an Oz actress and her director husband who want to do a movie on her life... AF, TF + JD did VH-1 stuff. JF a phoner. GB & I do a Westwood 1 radio interview. On the buses and off to soundcheck as CNN filming it + doing an interview w TF & JD. 2 X huge M&Gs. Awesome show and audience... Had 2 contest winners sitting in lounge chairs on stage (my side) for 3 songs... So, I went and sat across them... Big bunch of aftershow-ers... Back to the Mondrian and some to the SkyBar. 17th June LA - Greek Theatre 2. Layne & I to the gym then lunch in the Hotel restaurant. Acoustic team off to Star FM 98.7 for the usual 3-4 songs, Q & A, etc. Did 'Need You Tonight' 'Afterglow' + 'Pretty Vegas'. Back to the Hotel except for me, as off to the gig w the crew for a long massage... Film crew shooting Layne tonight for 'Freestyle Files' (NBC). Travelled on the bus to the gig and film stuff backstage, etc. Watched the 'Perfect Strangers' rough-cut video (filmed in Vancouver). Pretty damn good for the small budget... Yay Tony and team... 1 big M&G today. Whole band do some IDs for Asia. Oakley crew at the gig as well as lots of MBP people again... J & R Hunter, Steve Lukather, Dan Jones, Lynne, etc. Excellent show. Big party backstage then most to Eden & Nichola Gaha's party. Good fun till home about 2am. 18th June Hemet - Soboba Casino (outdoor) TF, JD & I do an hour or so interview w Hugh from Brit mag. Classic Rock. He's been hanging out and came to the 2 Greek Theatre LA shows. Went well. 3:30pm head off to the gig in the middle of nowhere. 2 X M&Gs. Pretty good show & loud smallish audience. On the bus and back to LA along w 13 & James as mixing @ Westlake TM. 19th June LA - Day Off/Meetings. (Westlake Live Track Mixing 2 - James + 13). Layne & I do yoga. Off to the Beverly Centre for lunch & shop + a few drinks @ the 'Wave' bar whilst waiting for Layne shoe repair return... Back to the Hotel for a few hours. Band dinner (no GB) w Martha at the SkyBar restaurant in the Hotel... Adam glasses, Lynne, LB + Jacqui H., Mike (bus driver) & Tony drop by for drinks, etc... K + L off to bed round 10pm. 20th June Pala - Events Center. LB to the gym. Band Meeting w Martha. Discussed possible more North America dates at the end of Europe... Watched the 'Perfect Strangers' video again to suggest final changes. Checkout at 2pm. Off to the Oakley factory on the way for some shopping. Then to the gig a little late but all good. 1 X M&G. Great show and crowd. Back on the buses and drive to San Diego and the Hotel Solamar by 1am. 21st June San Diego - Bayside Concert Site (outdoor) Sleep in then luggage sort & repack. Out for brunch to TGI Friday's. Layne and I had Biosync sessions today... Bunch of phoners for everyone today and some to Japan as they are releasing Switch next month. I went down to the gig early to program some sounds in to a new Line 6 prototype amplifier. They are releasing it with Artists signature sounds so I put in 'New Sensation' + 'Pretty Vegas.' Then a meeting w 13, Paul + Jen re shipping movements of wardrobe, personal effects, etc. 2 X M&G's + a band photo for ??? On w the show and a really great one. Cake & champers for GB's tomorrow b'day. Fuzzy + friends came + Oakley, Eric & Rachael, Kent & Kath... All back to the Hotel pool bar till late... JD off to LA as well as James & 13 as final live mixing TM. AF & TF overnight to Vegas w the buses. 22nd June San Diego - Day Off. (Westlake Live Track Mixing 3 - James + 13) Out for a walk to 'Pokez' Mexican for brunch. Off to the Mall and go see 'Nacho Libre.' Buy some DVD's + supplies. Nerd out then LB a top up session w Kent. Drinks for GB b'day (again) at the pool bar w those still here. LB + I out for a farewell dinner at 'Oceanaire.' Great seafood & treated like royalty as Hotel manager booked it... Home for a V good night... 23rd June Las Vegas - Aladdin Theater. Up early and pack and stuff. LB 11am car pick up to make her way, eventually to LAX to fly home tonight... Off to the airport to fly to Vegas for the rest of us. Plane cancelled so had to jump to another airline and so change terminals and go through the whole check in, security, etc. again. Off to the Aladdin Casino and day rooms. Down to the gig early for me. 2 X M&Gs. Okay show but great audience... Keith at the show tonight. Bit of an after show then all on the buses and off to Phoenix (6 hour drive)... 24th June Phoenix - Dodge Theatre. Most back to sleep after the overnighter... I went out for a 2 hour walk in the 105F+ degree heat to find a Bank of America... 3pm the acoustic team off to a radio station for the usual... Bit of a cluster as people everywhere as a party going on... Did 3 songs with some chat - 'Mystify' 'Afterglow' + 'Need You Tonight'. JD + I to the gig w the crew straight after. 2 X M&Gs. Pretty good show. Bill Silver the first US promoter we ever had there tonight as his gig... Back to the Hotel and luggage sort for TM flight. AF, TF + JD overnight on the buses... 25th June Albuquerque - Sandia Casino (outdoor) Up and off at 10:30am to the airport. Pretty easy... Off to the Marriott as the Casino stuffed up w our rooms. Tony & I down early but (in the public) Casino buffet for dinner and no massage room... Pretty good show & crowd. JD decided to stay & gamble... Rest back to the Hotel and no bar... 26th June Austin - Day Off/Travel. Off at 11:30am for flights to Austin via Dallas... Arrive at the Four Seasons Hotel round 6pm. Quiet night emails, iChat Layne and call Aps. Went through the potential Oz support acts thus far (different band each night) and sent off my two bobs worth... 27th June Austin - The Backyard (outdoor) Finally off to the gym. Lunch at Sth. American called Dona Emelia's restaurant over the road. 6pm all to the Hilton to sign a piano & photo op. for the Grammy Foundation then to the gig. 2 X M&Gs. Great show and crowd. Niki Gudex (Oakley rider) & her Mum came to the show. Lovely girl. Most back to the Hotel bar till closing. 28th June Houston >>> - Verizon Wireless Theatre. (Verizon live film & record show) On the buses and straight to the gig as no Hotel. Soundcheck for the cameras & recorders. Did a bunch of band & crew + Scott Stapp & band shots on stage. TF & JD record a mass of Radio liners. GB a phoner. 2 X M&Gs. Pretty good show and great crowd... On the buses and overnighter to Dallas arriving at the Crescent Court Hotel round 3:30am...Wait for luggage then back to bed... 29th June Dallas - Nokia Theatre. Up about 9am and start the big home pack... Lunch @ Nobu in the Hotel. 3:30pm meeting w Keith (as here) & Martha by speakerphone re touring, etc. Off to the gig round 5pm. Reshuffle personal effects as wardrobe cases going to Oz now, not Manila. 2 X M&Gs. Great show and crowd and a really fun gig... After stuff backstage, then back to the Hotel and everyone disperse to different locations... Some to a bar called 'Dragonfly' a bit like the LA Roosevelt but small... 30th June Dallas/LA/ >> Sleep in then finish pack. Out to lunch at Palomino w Sooz, Rene & Terri. All departing different times to different places. JD to a cabin on a lake for 10 days. GB to LA till the 9th July. TF to Hawaii to meet up w Buff for a week. AF, JF + KF & I on early evening flight to LA but delayed for over 2 hours & missed the 10:30pm Qantas flight... Got on the 11:50pm flight & it too was delayed an hour or so.... So, eventually off on the journey home. Watched 'Fastest Indian' then slept for 6 hours... 1st July >>>In The Air... Watched 'Transamerica.' 2nd July >>>Syd. Arrived an hour late. Customs took the gourmet popcorn I bought for LB... LB p.u. in Helmy. Home, unpack, paperwork and relax. Watched both the 'Bourne Identity' movies then bed round 10pm. |
