Ember, I'm enjoying those. It's a part of the story that we've always wanted to know and from his own mouth. I hope he keeps sharing.

The scene where they are in the recording studio and the newbie is proposing some artwork and songs he's been working on, then gets shot down and told he's a singer for hire only, it reminded me of JD and INXS.

Did anyone happen to snag JD's poem he posted a few weeks ago about the last day, and would we be there, or something to that effect? It's disappeared from his blog and I never got a chance to copy it.

I didn't save it either, sorry Ember.
I've got to say, the man is VERY good at hitting the delete button! He didn't post it in any of the members sections? |

No, he posted it only in the main blog section, and I thought it would stay, because he hasn't deleted blog posts on this own site before. But it's gone now. Sigh.

He deleted something else a few weeks ago from his main page on his site. It was lyrics or something along the lines of driving while it was raining. The was a bit more to it, but that was the gist of the beginning that I remember. That was up for a few days and when he posted next he deleted it.

Welcome partlycloudy, you do have a good memory! Wow, he really did write quite a bit back in April/May of 2009!

Thanks so much for helping us out here partlycloudy! (Love the name btw) Welcome to our little JD/INXS home.

I have no idea what any of that means partlycloudy. lol! That's how much money the site makes a day or something like that? I agree, I wish JD's site wasn't so exclusive and that you could join the site any time that you wanted. It's a bit unfair. I don't know who's advising him on the business side of things, but they aren't doing a good job at it. His site tends to alienate more than anything.

Ok, now I'm just confused. What's going on?

Sorry Giaan, I don't know either. I just popped in after not checking in for a few days so I didn't see whatever the post was that partlycloudy made that apparently was edited. I don't know if partlycloudy deleted their own post because they didn't like an edit that was made, or if an admin or moderator deleted it, or if it was simply a glitch in the system. Editing someone's post is so rarely done on this board, I can't honestly remember the last time it might have happened. I've edited myself from time to time, but only to make a hyper link clickable or that sort of "housekeeping" thing, never to take out something a poster has said. Generally we just ignore posts we don't agree with, or we try to get our point of view across as most people do in normal conversation. I'm a bit baffled as to what happened, especially since I have no idea what partlycloudy posted. We started this board because we were all on other boards where nasty things were happening and people weren't getting along and we wanted a safe, comfortable, friendly place to get together. If one of my co-admins deliberately took out or edited a post, especially one by a brand new person, I can only think it must have gone "over-the-line" in some way.

dcg, I never saw what happened either. I can only assume there was a glitch because I can't believe any of us would have removed a post or even edited it. Did anyone hear from Yuku? I'm as baffled as everyone else.
In reading back through the thread it seems to have had something to do with something that JD had written on his site and then took down and Ember couldn't remember what it was. Didn't PC post the song/poem? Is that what was taken down? Maybe there was a request from someone that it be removed due to copyright violations and Yuku removed it? It really does seem like there is a post missing on the first page. Ember asks about a poem and then thanks PC for posting it, but the post itself is gone.

I saw the post that is gone. It contained info on how much revenue JD's website generated. Perhaps it violated some Yuku policy? Other than that, I have no idea.

maybe it was a glitch but it just seemed one of my posts about fans running his sites not being the best "business" idea seemed to have disappeared-I am all for fans having "fan"sites but it was my opinion that he should be the one running his own sites-just my opinion that mysteriously was erased-poof--btw I am the one that requested for my posts to be removed...

I saw the post that was deleted too as I posted afterwards. But yuku was having issues that night. Not long after I posted, my post disappeared, but reappeared again later. So I think it was just a glitch in the system. I remember at the time thinking the board was going a bit nuts!
Btw, is JD's site run by fans? I thought it was run by some type of management team. |

Thx Giaan-hmm not sure what happened....as for the sites..don't quote me but it was my understanding that some "trusted" fans were running the day to day operations..I'm not certain but Ive got an inkling........ and ...........some people talk in small circles.......... and .......that's all I got....anyway....I rarely go to any of the jd sites because they are pretty dead if you ask me and that is why I stopped going to inxs.com years ago because they had fans running the boards too...they would read your private messages and tell others etc-it was so ridiculous-not sure now though but Ive lost interest in inxs since they lost interest in the US and I only sporadically keep up on the day to day living of jdfortune......for some reason....his "story" and journey intrigues me and I am still curious to know where fate will lead him.....I just happened upon this site and it seemed like a friendly outlet and I couldn't resist helping out with the prior info.....take care

I understand where you are coming from partlycloudy. I had a very unsavory run in with 2 fans over at inxs.com, so distasteful that I filed a complaint with the site. Shortly afterwards when shit hit the fan over the Barrie incident and the alleged ripping up of a picture of Michael, the site went crazy, and those 2 individuals were made moderators. Haven't bothered with .com since then. One of them is still involved in the admin of the new incarnation. Enough reason to stay away. I re-activated my membership to get the bulletins, but haven't bothered to update my profile or post there. INXS used several of my concert reviews for the Switch tours, and they used other people's input too, and they never even bothered to use that info in the new set-up. I'll be damned if I'm going to input that all again.
I do think that in some cases fans can do a good job at PR, especially when the record label/management appear to be doing nothing. The INXS Street Team did an awesome job in the years leading up to RS: INXS and Switch. We got disbanded at that time. INXS should take a look at how some bands run their websites. REM has always been great about giving people info on what the band is doing, and releasing timely statements etc. Crowded House has been providing pics from every gig, and keeps everyone up to date with what is going on. The way CH and REM do it is without all the record company hoopla, straight to the fans, but directly from the band. I love that. As for JD, for the most part the info on his website has been timely, but sometimes if has been made available to registered members only. I think he wanted to connect with fans and have a dialogue regarding his solo music, and the resulting influx of people meant he had to limit membership. They are back to some updates on Myspace, which I think is really important if fans can't access info from another source. I think the site has been quiet because JD has been busy with INXS stuff. Hopefully we'll see a return to his own material soon.
BSC and loving it.
