From the minute I first heard JD, I believed he was the perfect frontman to take over where Michael left off. Like PT said, INXS gave every sign and indication they believed fate had stepped in to give them the one missing ingredient they needed to be a complete band again. It was as close as they were going to get to perfection after Michael. I'm sure Michael would have been happy that INXS finally found someone that could give them a bold, fresh new start, while still doing justice to their catalogue of hits. He was all about keeping ahead of the musical curve.
I agree with everything you are all saying. After RS:I, it felt like the six band members had a bond of trust established that would never be broken. All these months later, I still can't accept that INXS had such little faith in themselves, or in JD or in all their fans. To me, it seems like they never truly got past Michael's loss and were never really ready to start fresh and new. They broke JD's heart, which he wore on his sleeve for them, and almost broke his spirit and confidence. They've also broken an unspoken promise to me, and all their fans, who believed there was so much more to come.
We don't want more of "INXS...The Greatest Hits", "INXS...The Best Of", "INXS...a Tribute To", "INXS...Top Tens", "INXS...The Remixes". JD was leading them full steam into the next decade with a head full of great new songs, but they just wouldn't follow. I'll always love what INXS was, but JD has the music I want to hear now and into the future.
